4th of July DUI Checkpoint - Drug Dogs, Searched without Consent, Rights Taken Away

Just saw this......and this is why I always politely obey the LEO when stopped. You know that song...."I fought the law - and the law won."

Rutherford County Sheriff's Deputy AJ Ross orders me to pull over and get out of my car, bullies me around, gets the drug sniffing K-9, lies about me having "Illegal Drugs" in the car, searches without consent, and tells me that it is ok to take away my freedom. All while not being detained. All this harassment because my window was not lowered enough to his preference. I broke no laws whatsoever. All of this on a day that we are supposed to be celebrating freedom and liberty. This checkpoint was in Murfreesboro, TN. At the end of the encounter, the officer did not want to give me his name when I asked him. After I repeatedly asked him, he finally gave it to me.

Not to be a dick......but.....I would have rolled down my window, answered his questions and continued on my way. Trolling for trouble can sometimes cause trouble. Hope you had a great 4th otherwise.

Good thing you are in Florida, as if you were in the San Diego area you'd probably get zapped and your car would explode! If the A-holes would not drink or do drugs and drive then that sort of stuff would never happen!

This thread is no different than *****ing about driving to fast or trying to buy a house.....

The window should've been rolled down, if not the cop gets suspicious....was he trying to hide a smell? A gun? Beer cans? Cops are trained to look for things out of the ordinary for their probable cause......in this case it was the barely opened window.....

The kid acted like a douche, rolled into the checkpoint with his camera rolling........
Cops run checkpoints mostly to keep drunks from driving and killing our families......he was looking for a viral video........

Nice... Love the responses. The kid was "trolling" or "acting like a douche" because he complied and acted in accordance with the law. You hear the first officer's voice even say "He's completely innocent. He knows his rights and the law, too."

No surprise police officers act with higher levels of impunity. We roll over and let them give it to us.

I've gone through a few checkpoints. None of them lasted more than a minute if you're sober and you cooperate.

Same here.......the people who ***** about dui checkpoints are the ones who feel entitled or the drunks......
If you had more than a few beers you shouldn't be driving on one of the biggest drinking holidays in the USA.......

Had he simply complied to the simple request there would've been no video to post on the internet.....

I'm pretty sure it is legal for him to ask for your license. A license is the property of the state and they have the right to ask to see it anytime, right?

I'll never understand how such a conservative BBS will have people complaining about 2nd amendment rights, but the same people don't give a crap about 4th amendment rights.

I'm not saying dui checkpoints are a violation of 4th amendment rights but I'm pretty sure the cop cannot try to open your car door like that. That window was down far enough for smells to waft through if he was concerned about that.

When I get stopped I always make sure to make the LEO's as relaxed as possible. No reason to aggravate them. Was able to talk myself out of a ticket a few times.

This happened to a driver in Tennessee. It's in the notes I posted under the video.
