Really cool little RC Car I got recently
I know there are few folks who play with Rc cars and what not...I couple of days ago I bought my oldest an ECX Ruckus truck which is really awesome and he loves but I also bought this little 1/18th scale EXC Smash.
The Ruckus is very cool and I really like it but the little Smash is freaking SWEET and a BLAST. Battery lasts forever (I've actually only charged it once and been driving it like crazy) and the little thing is a rocket. 2WD 1/18 Smash Monster Truck Blue (ECX8400): ECX RC My son almost wants to trade for the Smash and give me the Ruckus. The only complaint is the radio is 27 Mhz and not 2.4Ghz. Still - worth it at $80 RTR. The Ruckus is excellent as well and RTR is 2.4 Ghz, waterproof and pretty quick. Both come with NiMH batteries which suck but they work well in the smash and okay in the ruckus. I have some Lipos ordered for the Ruckus. http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/ruckus-1-10-2wd-rtr-monster-truck-green-black-ECX03003 |
Damn you..... It's been a while since I had an RC truck....
|
It's too cheap not to have really...

The problem I'm having is I know I will want more power and speed right away.... So.......
|
Hmmmm..... The ECX Torment with a 7Cell batt would be a fun toy...... ;)
|
I wish I had a cool RC truck. One of these days.
Til then I'll have to be satisfied with this RC-10L http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1373425467.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1373425497.jpg |
My son has a Traxxas Slash and a Ken Block rally car. Both are a blast and he can't kill them.
|
If I get the ECX, I want to find a 911 body for it. ;)
|
A couple of years ago, I bought a Team Losi RTR 1/16 Stadium truck. The battery lasts 40 minutes!!! Back in my days, it was 4 minutes!!! Lots of fun!!! I'll always have a RC car/truck.
|
I wonder whatever happened to my Losi JRX2...
Thanks for the link, mikester. Because my son really needs another RC toy.... ;) |
I have played with them, but I suck at making them really go.
You should see the competition at Porsche Parade for RC cars. Some of those folks have spent their entire life driving those things. It is cool to see one driven at top speed and hitting the apex just right, and drifting through a corner. I will stick to my full scale 911 toy. |

i got one of the traxxis ones for my boy. it is actually a lot cheaper to run than i thought. yea, there are some cheap parts, but not too $$. kinda nickle and dimes ya.
i have thought about going and getting on e for me. we set up a course in the yard and run 5-10 laps and do total times. |
ECX Torment 1/10 2WD RTR SCT: Silver/Blue (ECX03006) | Horizon Hobby - Radio Control R/C Planes, RC Airplanes, RC Helis and Helicopters, RC Cars, RC Trucks, RC Truggys, RC Boats, RC Radios, RC Engines, parts, hop-ups, and accessories
Seriously considering this truck with a LiPo setup.... Oh and a few spares because... Well I know how I drive... ;) |
My Son has traxxis Revo 3.3- 4x4 truck.
Goes like stink. Carb is sensitive to temp changes and must be adjusted a bit too much. Tiny reverse servo needs constant replacement. |

RK, tell us about the GT1? It looks well built and positively lethal. |
Tower hobbies does an easy pay plan on a good chunk of their inventory.....splits it into two or three payments and ships immediately. Makes the cost of some of these damn rc toys a bit more palatable.
Sid, check out xo1 by traxxas. I've seen them on the lightly used market for 500-600 ...... 100+non scale mph right out of the box and some claim that with a few mods it'll clear 130 |

And I've seen the X01. Its cool but I need something that will handle some off road play. At home I've got basically no pavement to play on, but 10 acres of terraces and stuff to jump... ;) |
