Collection of 100 digitally remastered photographs from 1860-1924

For the history buffs, these vintage photos of American's past have been digitally enhanced and restored.
I found this very moving; a snapshot into lives of folks now long passed on, from a time and place we can only read about. Photos I Like: HISTORIC PICTURES RESTORED |

Very cool, thanks for posting. I especially love the old maritime photos.

Very cool. Look at plate #16. Notice the lady in the front holding a rifle.

Great photos. I like the ones of Detroit.

Apparently they came from: Juniper Gallery | Shorpy Fine Art Prints by Juniper Gallery
Their site has literally thousands of vintage photos.. although most haven't been enhanced like the initial link. |

awesome pics, thanks for sharing :)

I enjoyed those pictures. Too bad there weren't any taken out west.

I love those pictures. I think I might have been born in the wrong era.
Those people are full of energy, wonder, and anticipation that something great is about to happen. They are responsible for themselves and that's what motivates them, not waiting for someone else to listen to their self-sorry excuses. |

 These girls are someone's great-grandmother!

Not sure if folks have seen this video. It is about an 11 minute movie taken by someone putting a camera on the front of a cable car and going down Market St in San Francisco. What makes this so interesting is the fact it was taken just before the earthquake of 1906. Enjoy

 COOL! Thanks...

^ Looks a lot like Market Street layout today. It's sad and weird to see how many buildings were destroyed.

Old naval pants are cool. Drop the front for business and keep your pants on.

 Thank You for posting those.
Favorites are about the railroad. I will spend more time on these as they are a feast for the eyes. These pics. Make me want to start drawing again. |

Really enjoyed the photos, especially the maritime images. the S F video is of an amazing time. the mix of horse drawn, and motor driven vehicles all moving at a pace that could include pedestrians on the roads.
a cool step back in time. thanks! |

 Fabulous!

I'm still really enjoying these photos, particularly the ones with old ships.
This one is my favorite by far. I like everything about it, including the subjects and the title: "Senorita Lenore Riviero with Antony Jannus in Rex Smith aeroplane". I imagine the hats are there only for the photo. I like the facial expressions. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1373581011.jpg |

Another perspective on the 1906 video from earlier

 Fantastic!.....just loved them all!
A trully different era.....I would say that in almost all those photos, men, women, and children alike, whether in uniform or "casually" dressed.....they practically all wore hats!....so cool to see that! |

Thank you for posting that link. The time frame of those pictures is so near yet so far away.

 Rusnak,
That side by side is stunning |

Amazingly, the battleship Texas (Photo # 12) still exists and is open for touring although it is suffering some serious structural issues.
Docked near the San Jacinto battlefield monument off of the Houston ship channel. It is the last of the dreadnaught class of battleships and served in both WWI and WWII (part of the Normandy invasion fleet).. |
