Storm damage 2013

I didn't want to hijack Tim's thread about his recent storm damage>

These pics were from the storm we had last month. It came up suddenly as we were finishing dinner. Intense hail, wind, and rain for about 10-11 minutes and then blue sky and freakin' rainbows(not kidding about the rainbows, 2 of them form as we were surveying the damage).

Also, a gas main was punctured at the end of our street so we had fire crews parked in our driveway and were told to evacuate.

We were without power for about 36 hours but we were lucky. Houses in towns around us received much more damage. No injuries reported which is good.

State Farm adjuster wrote up his estimate at around $13,000. Our new shingles were just delivered Thursday evening. We are taking the opportunity to upgrade to the 3D composite. Also having the contractor replace the old school aluminum siding on the second story with vinyl to match the lower level. The fencing around my shed is destroyed bu I am going to replace that myself.

I've had the yard cleaned up of debris by my BIL but still have trees that need to be trimmed of dead branches. I'm not scared to be on a ladder but my wife doesn;t like the idea of me being up there with a chainsaw in hand. Go figure.

The folks across the street lost a big pine tree and had a limb smash onto their Jeep.

Sad to see, Wayne. Apart from personal property damage, its depressing to see full grown old trees go.

Electric chainsaw on a stick.....?

I'm still seeing residual damage from Sandy. Mature trees & roots must have been weakened by the high winds, now even light winds I have additional trees fall or snap in half.

It sounds like you guys don't get big winds very often. You are lucky. It's 80mph today and a month ago it was 125mph. The roof stayed on but the trees look kinda weird with no leaves.
