Need a good shop (Ford 7.3 service) in Pheonix
Bought a truck in Pheonix and the wife has plotted with her cousin to do a road trip in it instead of me flying in to drive it to Illinois or ship it.
It's a 2003 F350 with a 7.3 liter diesel. Shouldn't be any issues. It only has 81,500 miles on it. But I want it checked out and the oil changed. And the fuel filter changed. Any Indy shops that you trust? I'd like to get it done this week. |
Try:
Johnston's Automotive 3445 N 24th St Phoenix, Arizona (602) 381-0448 Fleet Services 4031 E Winslow Ave Phoenix, AZ 85040 (602) 437-3118 I also have a mobile guy that does our fleet work if they can't help you out. |
Great! I'll call them. Thank you very much...

Passed on the TX truck?
I think that was the right decision. |

Let us know if you come down here. We can go Saguaro tipping.

If that cactus is still laying in your drive like a corpse end of week, you are welcome to go pick up my truck from the dealer and haul/pull it out to the desert :)
I really considered going out there on my motorcycle, and then drive back with bike in bed, but the wife got with her cousin who she hasn't spent a lot of time with since they were teen girls. So they are going to "Thalma and Lousie" it to Illinois for me, with a stop in Nebraska for a family reunion. It'll cost more to let the girls have their fun than to ship it, but it sure made adding another vehicle to my fleet of cars go over smoothly... :) |

i just spent about 6 to 8 months looking for a truck for my daughter. how frustrating.
like you found, even though they have low miles, they are ragged out. torn seats, broken switches and buttons and a big one. the front ends feel like they are about to fall off. either the trucks are poorly made or people just don't take car of them. finally found a nice 99 250 with a 7.3 and 166k miles for $9k. A little more than i wanted to pay for it but it is pretty nice. nice tight steering and front end, tranny(auto) shifts nice and feels good. it has a very slight vibration around 35, either balance or bent rim, but my daughter can't really fell it. slight vibration when braking. brings my faith in american autos down a little. oh, she loves the truck. now i need a goose neck hitch |

Geez...I would have sold you my old truck 2002 F250 2WD Supercab with the 7.3. It actually drives better than the F350 4WD crewcab I bought to replace it for more room and plowing.
These trucks are generally used for work and or by guys who like to treat the rough so they get abused. So I expected a long hunt. Even the one I picked up has issues. But none I can't handle. |
Around here, a lot of 4x4 diesel crews wind up as "logger's rigs" or "ranch trucks" and just have the snot beat out of them.
When we sold our very nice 97 4x4 diesel crew we got about 2,000 over book for it and the fellow who bought it was glad to own it at that price. Every knob, switch, light, accessory, etc., worked flawlessly. Interior was 100% intact with no stains on the carpet or seats at 186,000 miles. I really liked that truck. Very easy to drive and would pull anything you could put a hitch to. angela |
