Over the ear, or on the ear?
Have you given a listen to Sennheiser? They have a truly amazing selection of headphones. |

Grado are very tasty sounding cans for listening but don't meet the "smooth, natural and uncolored" I need as a tool of pro audio. Grado intentionally colors the headphone response to be more pleasing to the ear and has many fans who appreciate their choices.
For me a good pair of Sony MDR-7506 is tough to beat because I can hear everything very naturally and they are comfortable for long periods. I have owned a pair for 15-20 yrs and they give me what I need in a good quality headphone. Try the Grados and see if it is a good match to your musical tastes.

More or less as Cajun sees it. Good product, good company. A quick search found a quote from Robert Harley on the RA-1 & I trust his ears. Every Grado phone I have listened to sounded good but headphones have exploded & there are a lot of great choices out there.

fwiw I have beaten the crap out of a pair of Ultrasone HF!-15Gs. Very light, detailed, easy to wear for long periods. I have a pair of Ultrasone closed-ear cans and those are a little bright for my taste (and not as comfortable). Downside is the 15Gs are open ear so aren't great for tracking with other instruments.

I have the 325i...love them but they take some getting used to (!)They aren't the kind of phones that you can shake your head with, they will come off (2) WILL twist and break @ the Y on the cord ( send them in 45$ to fix and 2 weeks) (3) must "burn" them in @ least 24hrs before they even start to sound good ( I love the sound).... bought them here they are out of Montana and have excellent service & 100's of headphones. They will talk your head off making sure your getting the right stuff, call them... HeadRoom: Headphones: Full-Size, In-Ear, Wireless, Noise Cancelling, Headsets

I have a pair of SR80s and a little Bravo Audio tube amp at work (I just wanted something cheap and tube). I really like them both.

I have a pair of SR-60s that I've been listening to for about 16 years. Only had to replace the foam a couple of times. Nice sound...
