Am I asking too much for this gee-tar?

I know how craigslist goes... you can advertise for months and get nary a nibble.

Then one weekend you will get two or three (or more) people contacting you.

Don't really want to go to ebay because of the hassle of packing and shipping (and risk of damage) to a guitar.

I'm asking $650 expecting to be negotiated down a bit.

80' vintage Charvel strat:

What think ye PPOT guitar experts?

Man, I used to have a flame top Charvel!!! It was awesome. I switched to classical guitar and sold it. Wish I held on to it! worth a lot now!

I have a Charvel San Dimas that's probably a lot nicer than that one and I got it for $550. Mine has a real Floyd Rose and two nice SD humbuckers. I think $650 is probably too much for that. I doubt too many folks want an 80's Charvel without a Floyd on it.

Yeah, the San Dimas is the hot seller... $550 is a good deal for the SD (looking on ebay).

I'm hoping to get around $500 but starting at $650 prepping for the CL low ballers.

I had the 750XL. Blue flame top, neck through body, shark fin frets...it was awesome.

I think I bought it for 500-700 bucks at Daddy's Junky music in Mass. back in 1991. Sold it in 1996 for like $500. Seems like these guitars hold their value pretty well.

Red, a lady friend at the time I bought it called it "blood red" I don't think she meant it as a compliment.

On eBay similar looking Charvel's are being called "Ferrari red"

Good point, maybe I should put that in the CL ad, color=red

Charvel is a nice axe but price is all about supply and demand. It is a shredder guitar and youthful players often don't know Charvel, older players may already have one. Sadly there are also a bunch of fake asian Charvels around that don't play anything like a real one from Calif. The target player is in his 40s and remembers EVH and Randy Rhodes as prime influences. I'd guess it would sell from $300-$500 depending on playability and tonewoods. A nice gig axe, good luck with the sale!

I would sell it on Ebay. You've got the case and it will pack safely with the right size box and bubble wrap. Insure it and use the carrier you like. It will beat some local showing up and trying to walk away with it for $200.

Yep, problem is the shredders want the San Dimas not this model with the strat pickups. It is an nice all around ax.

I have a guitar from that era (1979) with similar supply/demand issues. It is a Cherry red 335 made in Japan "lawsuit" guitar that is one of my sweetest players. It stands up very well and maybe better than Gibsons of that era but no one understands until they play it. Without Gibson on the headstock it's market value is a fraction of the original.

In the last 10 yrs I have gone over to the dark "Fender" side and mostly play a Tele and Strat these days. I have considered selling the 335 but it seriously plays too nice to just give it away real cheap. If I do decide to sell it I know I will need it for another project.

I recently traded my beloved, untradeable ES-335. There was none nicer. I got it on eBay for $1000 10 yrs. ago. So I had $1k into it and found a guy who wanted to trade me for his one-hour-of-play-time Soldano SLO 100 with flight case. I could not pass up that deal. I can grab another ES-335 anyday for under $2k, but those SLOs are $4100 new.

No problem, just let me know what price you settle on, still could be interested.

I have a vintage Gidson L6S without pickgard for sale also... will ask $1250 but will settle for $1000... wheels/tires for the Miata.
