question: windows 7 problem using Ooma phone.
I start having strange problem recently. I am not sure how to make a quick question, so let me describe slowly.
I have cable modem connect to a router. From the router, cable connect to 2 computers and the Ooma phone. Other laptops and phones are connect through Wifi. I have been using it like this for several years without any problem. Let forget about those devices connect through Wifi and concentrate on the 2 computers connect by cable. One has windows 7 and one is XP. Recently, when the phone in use, or even just ringing, the computer with windows 7 lost internet. Soon the phone is hung up, the internet is back on. The computer XP doesn't have this problem. I called Ooma. They went through numerous checks and lead me through connecting the phone to the computer and reset the phone system to cope with this computer, no good result. Cable company don't think they have anything to do with this, but a suggestion is to increase bandwidth; which I don't think it is my problem. 1- the other computer doesn't have this problem. 2- this is the new problem just happen recently. Anyone encounter this problem?

This is a known problem. Damn, did not want to do IT support this weekend...
To be clear... All three devices, two pc's and ooma are plugged into the router?

If you plug a pc into the ooma HOME port and go to http://setup.ooma.com, on the Network page, what does the MODEM port say?

Slodave, ok. At least there is one person know my problem. I have searched a lot and found nothing. There is a known problem I have read several places but that's involve with the frequency between the cordless phone and the Wifi signal, which is not my problem.
I didn't want to connect PC after the ooma phone, because I afraid the internet will get too slow when the phone is in used. So, all devices are connected via network cable to router. From cable modem to a router. Both PCs, and the ooma box are connected to the router via cable too. It's too late to try now, too tired to try. When I called in couple days ago, Ooma suggested me to connect the ooma phone to the router, then this problem PC to the ooma. Go to a URL and reset the cache on the phone all to 0 (zero), 2 different values if I remember right. After that, put everything back to normal (all devices to router). his is not working. I think it is not the phone. It must be the windows 7 computer. Because the other computer (XP) didn't have this problem, which both computers are connected the same way.

slodave, can't leave to go to bed. I tried it, unplug the computer from the router, plug the computer into the home port on the ooma box, go to the URL above. An IP conflict error message popped up saying another computer is having the same IP as this computer. I think the ooma phone and this computer are having the same IP. I don't want to mess up the ooma's IP since I have no idea how to fix any problem if there will be any. So, I changed this Computer's IP. Released and renew router. Lost internet until I change the computer IP back to the way it was. What do you think? Is there a way to check IP on the ooma?

What is the I.P. of the pc and what did you change it to?
You really need to be able to get access to the Ooma and see how how the MODEM port is setup.

let say the router IP is 192.168.2.1
One PC is 192.168.2.100 and the one with problem is 192.168.2.101. I changed the last digit of the PC with problem to let say 192.168.2.109 Update: I went to setup ooma website and found the MAC address. From there, I can find the IP in the router. My ooma phone IP is diff than my PC IP. They are not conflict. Called Ooma phone cust service today again. They admit that they can't solve this problem. In fact, they have another cust with same problem recently. Unplugging the PC (with problem) from the router, plugging it directly to Ooma box. This works. I can surfe the ninternet while making phone call. But honestly, I don't this. Slodave, OS on this PC is Windows 7. Do you think any setting can affect this?
