My Dogs Chews Through Power Cord...

The little one - half weenie half chihuahua decided she was bored so she began to chew on a lamp cord with a completed circuit.

I was sitting at my desk and she was near - all of a sudden I hear a sound come from her that I never heard an animal make. She shot up two feet in the air. The smell of burnt salvia and canine despair filled the air. The past few hours she has been rather reclusive - almost interspective.

She is fortunate to be alive.

She seems fine for the most part. Has an understandable fear of cords now

I have a similar situation with my cat... he likes chewing on cables; but he hasn't got through the cable jacket yet, I believe it is a matter of time. I'll advise if lightening strikes.

Glad my English Bulldog is too lazy to chew anything... because he is too dumb to learn from anything.

Good that you can see both the positive and negative aspects of this experience.

I used to run a telephone cord plugged in to where the dog would find and chew it - aversive conditioning at a safe voltage

My nomination for one of the quotes of the year, where's that thread?
