Selling our 1998 Ducati Monster 900 - 4000 miles - What should I ask?
My wife has decided it's time to part with her baby. 1998 Monster 900 with 4074 miles. It's as nice as you'd expect cosmetically. Don't know if the belts have ever been changed or not. We've had it for several years and probably put 500 miles on it.
Started leaking fuel from one of the overflow tubes recently, but only on a cold start. Assuming it's a stuck float. The leaking stops as soon as it's ridden 1/4 mile or so. How much should I ask? ![]()

Not sure what it's worth... But I'd be interested in it...

~5k. I love these (owned my M900 since new for 17 years), but the Monsters were/are Ducati's top seller, so they are everywhere and easy to find.

The 98 has carbs. Is that more or less desirable than the FI?
Is $5000 realistic? I was thinking it would bring $3000 - $3500.

Are you sure that's a Ducati Lee? Mine never looked that clean, even after cleaning it. I miss my old 900SS now and again. GLWS.

If unsure, look at what other Ducati bikes of that era are worth versus their original prices/volumes and adjust accordingly.
$5k will buy you a 748/749/916 nowadays. This is not any of those. I'd say $3k-$3.3k depending on the tire age/miles. Even if they have plenty of tread, if they are old and she rides straight up everywhere, as a new owner I'd want a newer set and I'd haggle down $300.

monsters seem to hit a low in the $3k range, no matter the year or mileage.
yours looks super clean and low mileage. but no recent services. check out Ducati Monster Forum. good luck! |

Now in 993 land ...

Man, I am way too scared of riding a bike, but if I wanted a street bike, this would be it. Especially at that price. How much fun you can have for 3k!
Of course that doesn't include MC gear. But who needs that. A t-shirt, sneakers and some jeans do for the most young lads I see in CA. If they go all out, they have a vest with a back saver. G |

OMG. That bike is beautiful. I would be too scared to ride it though.

I think $3000 $3500 is probably on the money. '98 Superbikes (748/916) go for mid 4's these days.

I have my license. I just haven't rode in a long time. About two months after I got my license, I start to lose my vision in my right eye where I was legally blind in that eye. Ever since, scared my peripheral vision is not good enough to ride safely. I make a damn good passenger.

You should ask me to store it in my garage for you, that's what you should ask.
