Cabinetmakers? Please I.D. This Hinge.

A hinge in one of my kitchen cabinets has broken. However, it is not a commonplace hinge that I can find at Ace Hardware. I cannot find any identifying marks. Does anyone recognize this hinge and know where I can buy one?

Looks like a knockoff of a Blum 71M2590B.

Or a Blum 70T5590BTL. This one opens to 120*.

That's not a Blum hinge. it might be an old Grass or Mepla. Show me the top of the hinge. Sometimes there are markings under the cup. If you can't find it, just replace the both hinge and its plates. Much easier that way. One of the reason it broken like that is because the hinges isn't adjusted correctly and the stress is on one hinge more then the other ripping the place in two piece. Is there a third hinge on that door? Replace with Blum self-closing 170 degree hinge. Screw in type, no dowel. All cup size are the same on those European hinges. Take the plate off (unscrew it) and take a pic of the plate for me. I think it looks like a 0mm or 3/4' overlay plate. If not, take a pic of the cabinet where the door use to go and I can tell you what plate to order with the hinge.

Never said it was. ;) Based on the seperate mounting plate, it looks like a Blum. The two you mentioned don't seem to have that style plate.

Oh, I know you didn't. Blum plates never had those ridges on the center between the screws. It isn't a clip-on plate, so its pretty old, 10 years? Old Grass plates look similar to it. Heck it might even be an knock off from China or Mexico. What ever it maybe, I would just go and install two new ones.

Dave, I meant to call you. I saved one large and one smaller Maple tops for you. Do you want to come by and pick them up? We can cut it into smaller manageable pieces with a Skill saw.

Yes, let's work something out.

PM it again, please. :)

Now back to our regularly scheduled post...

Thanks, all. I will order two of the hinges linked by look171, need to measure the overlay dimension. There's no markings on the broken hinge except for a sort of "sunflower" logo. It is probably 13 years old.

That must not be a very good Ace hdw. They should have that generic 19 mm hinge.

Try this joint.

Thanks everyone! Figured it out, two hinges + mounting plates on the way, cheaper than I thought too.

John,

Those are clip-on hinges on that link. No screws are needed to attach the hinge to the plate. Simple, and no more stripping screws trying to tighten those Posidrive screws. Have fun. I know you like messing with stuff like that.
