Made another video. Porsche roadtrip and bike crash.

What's the first thing any modern athlete or jackass thinks after a crash? "Did I get that on tape?" Or maybe "memory card" is more correct these days? Encouraged by the response I got from my previous short movie (link) I wanted to document my road trip and bike riding at Hafjell Bike Park, the best bike resort in Norway, Friday 26nd. Hafjell is located near Lillehammer, some 240 km from my hometown Drammen, but I had not been there since last year, and really wanted to take the 911. The easiest way is by the highway - dull, but effective. And I could drive over the "mountain" going home. More turns, more fun. I was hoping to get a lot of footage during this glorious, sunny day, with different camera angles, but on my third run I managed to go over the bars. And land with my left arm between my rib cage and the dirt. Bad idea. But, I got it on camera! So, sorry for the monotonous biking footage... The crash is at 50 secs. The trip home was not as fun as I had hoped, with broken ribs and a smashed wrist. Every left turn and shift to fourth or second gear was agony. Therefore I chose to take the boring but thankfully straight highway home too. Hope you like it. Roadtrip and bike crash - Hafjell Bike Park - YouTube

Well, hope you are feeling better soon. The comment about growing older and taking longer to heal is appropriate for all. How old are you? I was riding this morning and was passed by a man and woman on road bikes, I was on my mountain bike. I felt silly but at 66 yo I take longer to recoup and go slower than some but I made up my mind a long time ago to be the tortoise and enjoy my rides. I'm not racing to get it over or make a PR, just want to get back home in one piece. And I say Hi to everyone I see, they didn't say **** when they went by, how unsociable. Cool bike rack, who makes that? Stay safe and thanks for the video.

Thanks, I'm healing nicely I think. Not much more I can do but take some painkillers now and then. I'm just 42, but almost a dinosaur compared to most guys at the bike parks. Agree about what you say about being slow but wanting to get back home in one piece. I try to push myself, but hang on the brakes way too much, even though I know that I can make it if I pin it. Kudos on getting out there at 66! Hope my body allows me to be active at that age. *****ty people to not return your greeting. The bike rack is a SeaSucker Talon (SeaSucker | Vacuum Mounting Systems) using vacuum cups. Easy to fit, works at 100mph+. Just have to make sure the paint is clean. I use a wet rag and clean it before putting it on.

Nice, never seen those racks in the states. You'll be doing it at 66, the alternative sucks.

Ray, thanks for sharing your drive and wipe-out, and reminding us to keep peddling even after taking a header (ouch, that must have hurt...but great stiff-upper lip!!!) I suspect that the only thing that could have been worse than your fall would be to have damaged the bike...glad that wasn't the case. I too was injured almost a month ago and it has been difficult not being able to drive the 911; the first time that I get to drive it again will be very special. ...take care! P.S. The SeaSucker mounting systems is very cool...thanks for putting them on my radar.

Ow! I have had those, got them the same way, only about 30 years ago. Took a header off my bike going down a hill. Took me about 4 weeks to all better. Liked the video, thanks for that.

Thanks guys! Yeah, it hurt like a b*tch the first few days. It peaked last Monday, but it's getting a lot better. Looking forward to get on the bike again, to my GF's despair... :-D
