Brain trust I need help with Bearing cross reference

Guys, Gals,

I have an old skid loader I use around the house only. It is in need of some new axle/wheel bearings. Here are the particulars

Gehl model HL4400 with perkins diesel
outer wheel bearing per parts manual is 054724 which I believe is superseded to 072061. I am looking for a more generic part number so it is easily found part. The only SKF part number I found was 479211-203 but that only crosses to 054724 so I am all confused.

Also the inner bearing is 054727 which is listed as NLA..

I am still in process of taking it apart (figuring out how to ) so I dont have actual bearing in hand yet. Thanks for any guidance

054724 may be changed to 072061 because Gehl changed suppliers. It may be the same bearing, just a different manufacturer, so the SKF ought to work. You ought to be able to measure the NLA bearing and match it with an SKF or other manufacturer's bearing.

Right but that was the 1st part number does that mean that both are the same parts meaning both gehl part numbers are one and the same? and that there where no changes to the part?? They are pretty expensive so I want to get the right parts

What I do is take the part # off the bearing itself, and either find that exact part or one from an x-ref table.

Do you have any local places that specialize in bearings? When we are working on our cranes we just pull the bearing and take it in to a bearing place and get them to match it exactly off a mic....

"054724 may be changed to 072061 because Gehl changed suppliers. It may be the same bearing, just a different manufacturer" Part numbers get superceded for many reasons that may have nothing to do with the functioning of the part.

I wish mfrs woud include all dimensions on their webpage ads.
Makes it simple.

Im going to figure out how to take it apart this week and then go to a bearing place and hopefully find them cheaper anyhow

A quick search found the following..... As others have said, probably best to disassemble and search actual bearing numbers to find what you got and what they cross reference to. I always like to measure the id, od and thickness prior to searching to confirm what I have found truly matches up.

I have several cross-referencing books in my office but rarely use them.
Instead I call my buddies at Applied industrial or Kaman industrial technologies and let them look it up for me. They know me on a first name basis.

That's what they do for a living and are good at it and are glad to help.

Got it apart easier then I thought found this number. I think I found it for about $35 bucks which is way cheaper then the dealer wants of $127 each . GW211PPB8
