What the World Needs

figure it was about ten years ago. i was sitting out front of the rock store watching people walk by my 01 Victory V92C. by this time i'd ridden the bike all over the southwest, done a few years of los angeles lane splitting, and gone to alaska on it. i was quite proud of her. but no on cared because parked right next to it was a gilroy indian.

i concluded then that the world needed a polaris engine in an indian frame.

Indian Motorcycles : Official Website

A 2014 Chief is the one new bike I'd consider.

Since as long as I can remember I always wanted an Indian motorcycle. Not a Harley but an INDIAN.

Old school no nonsense anything.

I was sort of hoping they'd use one of their atv engines: create a new Indian four. But it looks good enough. I've blown through my personal motorcycle budget for the next five years. But I want people to buy these. There needs to be a competitor to Harley. And they're not that much overpriced.

I believe the proper term is "Native American".

I know Polaris has the money to get this bike off the ground, but it seems they are coming in a little late for the expensive cruiser motorcycle fad.

About damned time. Well, honestly, it's past time. I think this will likely go nowhere, just like the three (four?) other past revivals of the Indian name.

I enjoyed the hell out of my '01 V92C until I busted my tailbone. It's a freakin' shame they brought Arlen Ness on board. Their designs went from "industrial art deco" to "post space age cartoon".

I could go for the Chief Classic or Vintage but the fairing on that bagger is a crime again nature.

You think that will die out with the baby boomer generation? The younger crowd seems less Easy Rider, more Fast & Furious on the crotch rockets.

Hey, remember this? That seat was a double-scoop of WTF.

Loved my V92C, but if she were a woman I'd call her "big boned". Couldn't agree more about Arlen Ness.

Right now Harley's biggest competitor is used Harley's. there are a million low mile trailer queens out there. But if you have to have new, then $18k isn't that much more. Guys spend 15k on a road king, and then another five wishing it looked like an Indian.
Of course the economy is **** right now. Polaris has built whole factories for this project. So figure they've gonna commit for at least ten years. Maybe things will have turned around by then.
