Conn. aircraft crash with former microsoft exec. and son
Turbine twin on approach in rain. Crashed into a house killing two children. Very sad.
I wonder about icing problems and/or low speed stall as causes. |
I saw on the news tonight that initial investigations found that it came in upside down, at approx. a 70 degree angle.
Very sad situation. Also said that it wasn't the pilots first crash. The first was in WA, where he put the plane in a river, with his mother as passenger, due to engine failure. They both swam away from that one. |

Doubt it was icing, it was just before noon and he'd 'gone around' so had not been at altitude. Was raining though. |
I worked with Bill on some community stuff for a year on and off, didn't know him real well but he was the real deal. Super nice guy who did well and worked tirelessly to give back. I heard it on NPR today on a drive and had to pull over.

I stand corrected. |

The local news showed the weather map at time of crash
there was a pretty bad microburst going on at the airport when it happened Time will tell if that contributed. Some very ugly video from those on the scene as neighbors were trying to get the kids out of the house. Just gut wrenching But the average joes on the scene tried like hell |
