Transferring all data to new andriod phone

It pains me to ask this... me being a computer tech for a profession.

However dealing with tech all day I tend to be lazy when it comes to things like phones, I don't study them and read up on all the latest gadgets. My work involves studying manuals to get all manner of obscure equipment to function.

Hey Scott, would you like some cheese with that wine?

To the point, I just found out that my carrier (T mobile) will upgrade me from my Galaxy SII (that I like very much) to a faster shinyer Galaxy 4S.

The SII is my first android phone so I am hoping this is easier than changing my old stupid phones was.

Yes, I know I pull the sim card out and put it in the new phone, how much of the phone follows the sim card? I presume my contact/phone book (and I won't get the dreaded double entry phone book)

I also know thee us a websync thing I can use with Tmobile.

And I can backup the phone to a computer via a USB cable.

But what about my apps? My beloved apps! Will I have to reload all my apps?

Thanks in advance

I know with an iPhone all that I have to do is sync my new phone to iTunes and it will give me the option to restore with the profile of my previously backed up old phone. Once click and I get all of my contacts, text, emails, settings, photos, apps, etc on my new phone. Does Android have a similar system?

My wife and I just switched from IPhone's to Androids via AT&T. Hers a Galaxy and mine a LG. The store dude transferred all data stored in our phones to the new ones in just a couple of minutes. Everything transferred with no issues. Don't know how he did it but you might just have them do it.
