Hot Rod Browsing
There is a ship hull down on the horizon & headed for my dock.
Prime requisites are a V8 with a lumpy cam, a 4 (or5) speed, & good paint/body work. There are lots of other stuff that I'd like to see but I want to keep the price to around 25K...or less. I'm a fan of old Fords, 55-57 Chevy's & 64-66 Novas and Malibu's. I'd perfer something in the PNW so's I could go give it a once over. Ideas? |

Wouldn't mind doing a motor swap.
An LS3 from Jegs with all the electrics, oil pan, yada....$7860ish. If you have anything worth adding, please do. This is also research, pencil neck. Sorry if the vague reference to "my ship is coming in" confused any one. |

Odd posting, but I vote early Chevy II/Nova. Great looking cars and not as afflicted by the muscle car bubble as the Camaro, Chevelle, etc.

Get a 914 (someone said they were good cars) and SBC with a G50. Stockish tires and quiet mufflers. Sleeper screamer. :)

65-68 mustang coupe. Find a good body and resto-mod it.

If I had $25k to burn it would be either 55 Chevy or a 68/69 Chevelle clone.

A couple days of research shows me that Mustangs are way less expensive than them nice Chevys.....and there is a boat load of em' out there. The 4 cammer crate motor is about $6500
from Summit......hummm. I wonder if that can be shoehorned into an early Mustang. My son is into a Mustang build.......he's got the gear-head gene, I'm afraid. Time to pick his brain, me thinks. A website like this for mustangs is what I need.......I'd even put with smart asses like here as long as someone has their sheet together. BTW, that's a nice 55. It looks out of my price range. I'm not a fan of the BB lumps. The newer aluminum SBs make them moot and don't add 2-300lbs over the front wheels. |
I have a patient that is selling a hot rod. SBC, Model A roadster, 1929 maybe, awesome paint, but it is an automatic. Not sure if it would be in your price range, or if you would be flexible on the transmission, but it is awfully nice.

Vintage Mustang Forums is the best site I've found for the old Mustangs. I have a 1970 waiting in storage for me to get my garage freed up. They are far less than some of the more typical muscle cars, you can still get a nice classic Mustang for under $20k. There's several guys on Pelican that are really well versed in building driver/track modified classic Mustangs, do a search and you'll find some good stuff.

Early mustangs can be great. A problem can be trying to have a productive conversation with the folks associated with many of them. There are some good people that are into those sorts of cars but, well, it is generally a different crowd than most who hang out around here and most P-cars.
