Which GPS tracker is the best? WITHOUT plan, preferably....
Hi,
after yet another close call I decided to not ship anything valuable anymore without a GPS tracker. I regularely ship cars and boats from the US to Europe, sometimes pretty valuable stuff that can not get a proper insurance coverage. My 1992 911 C2 was stolen from the docks, but it surfaced in 48 hours without any major damage. Had I used a GPS tracker I would have saved two sleepless nights. So, I want to invest in a GPS tracker. Which one do I chose? I don't want one with a plan, since I might ship 4 times one year and then nothing for 2 years. I would like to just put it hidden in the car, turn it on and then just watch it travel to Europe for 3-4 weeks. I don't need any fancy user interfaces, just a device that sends the position to me once an hour or so. Preferably one that has good reception, since the car might be in a container. Any ideas on what I should buy? Regards, Johan |
I don't think most will power thru a steel container
it has to see the sats then hook up to you by wifi or cell ? and survey equipment will not read a sat if a tree is in the way |
Ok, but doesent container carriers use this technology?
I would be ok to track it once it is when it leave the container. That would have made me find the car two days earlier this time.... I am guessing they need the cellphone net? Regards Johan |
I would try looking into a shipping service that offers GPS tracking. I've never used anything like that but I bet it's out there.
