i hate anticipation..i cant control it. hehe.

darn!! i ordered a custom backpack. they make a big deal, getting measurements, working out details, adding stuff, pockets, pods..type of lids..then they take your money. phoosh!

they quickly work out the invoice, and send it to you for approval..and when you approve. they send you a target date for shipping. eight weeks. then silence. for eight weeks you think about calling them for updates. nope, dont do it. like breaking some code and overcalling a girl after the first date. silence.

then a weird peacefullness comes...you actually forgot you ordered anything. (till you pay the CC bill). then, something clicks in your foggy memory. ..what is it about august 20th is special? aha!!! my ship date!! you re-read the instructions, and they clearly state..on your ship date, you will recieve a tracking number and a photo of your item. all my buddies tell me their packs shipped right on the date. no exceptions.

nope not me. i send a friendly.."hellloooo".

i just got pinged back an automated response..vacation notice. the customer service dude went HIKING!!! hahah. he is on a backpack trip.

fun! i admire folks that do an internet store. big time communications, complaints, etc. i'll be patient. but i admit, the anticipation is killing me. i expect it to far outweigh the actual product. hope the pack isnt some anticlimatic event.

thanks for the venting forum. better you guys than the stalker email i was just about to send.

Sounds like it might be worth the wait. Or is it 'weight'?

Check his FB page. He's testing "your" backpack.

Sounds like a suit I bought once. Love that suit.

I LOVE the feeling of buying the best of the best.

FWIW The birthing records (pictures of my Ferrari as it was being built) EXACTLY match those of another 430 owner...just sayin'

Look at it this way, are you going backpacking anytime soon if you get it tomorrow? I should talk, It will be killing me too. Sorry man, hope you get it soon. I did know they make custom packs now. Wow, things have come a long way. I thought I was styling with my big old Gregory pack of yesteryear. There must be many adjustment needed due to my fat ass outgrowing the backpack.

I got a Kifaru. Same dude that used to make MountainSmith. He has a military line and a sportsman line.

The new stuff is modular. I can take a bag off and put on a smaller one or put on a cargo shelf, etc. it is endle$$. All packs are going this way.

The best? Google McHale packs. He sends you packs back and forth as templates for fit bYou get full design input. I heard it takes six months to get it to you. Bombproof. Big money. Badass stuff.
