I like the Audi grilles- even better if they are teh facelifted ones with the corners nipped off so it is a pentagon instead of a rectangle. The thing I don't like about the Lexus is the pucker. The sides go the wrong direction.

Grilles with all angles greater than 90 degrees or ovals/ellipses look much more natural. Whatever happened to happy cars?

enzo - speaking of audis - we had an rs5 in our booth last year - I think the Lexus looks more aggressive...

[QUOTE=sc_rufctr;7615466]I've been considering a new daily for a while so I drove one of these today.

Nice drive, very smooth and quiet. I really couldn't fault it technically but it's HIDEOUS... Worse than a Panamera!

What's up with a raft of ugly new cars?

Wannabe Darth Vader look alike syndrom!

One of the Infinity massive SUVs pulled up while we were having coffee the other day at my local Peets. What a gawdaweful looking thing.

Of course I have an orange X1 and my wife now has a green Fiat 500 so our taste may be suspect :D

That said, pretty much any Audi or BMW has cleaner external and interior styling than pretty much any Japanese or American car. At least to my eye, ymmv.

OP: here is a simple equation to help you answer the question.

2("educated" car designer) + (no actual car knowledge) / (companies that think a car needs to be an I-Pad with wheels) = UGLY Schiut with a lot of stuff that breaks regularly

We were tempted no doubt. As much as we liked driving the CTS (3.6 not the CTS-V) it's angular lines were IMO troublesome from a couple perspectives. Though different the interior and materials of both cars impressed. Performance wise the G37 has a clear advantage and ultimately combined with a solid track record for reliability the Infiniti won out.

The 2011 IS sedan was eliminated from the running early due to it's more confined cabin.

Most excellent pt.

That Lexus is butt ugly. And when I was shopping 2 months ago, the big mouth on the A4 was certainly not a point in its favo either. MB have done a good job on the 'need for big grill' with the C300 imho. And it is a great car - I am quite liking ours on the rare occasions I drive it.
