I saw one come onto the beach here in Long Beach 5-6 years ago. It was early and cloudy, but it was a public beach. Just not too many folks around. Those that were got the hell out of the way. There was no land patrol that I could see.

From the article:

A Russian defense minister reportedly had this comment: "Docking at the beach ... is a normal event.

Now it could be the BV coastal estates talking, but that is hill-hairyesel. Of course only if one knows what docking is.......(urban dictionary)

I heard that beach is actually part of or adjacent to a military training facility.

Yes, they miss the spot by a few kilometres...

Close enough for government work.... :)

No strobe lights, no air horns, no beach security with flag guys giving the "all clear".

In Russia - you are on your own.

Good to know.

The lawyers haven't grabbed a hold of them yet.

You guys must have better eyes than me. I don't see anyone running out of the way. I see a telephoto shot that doesn't even show where the thing is landing. There could be a huge landing zone there, all coned or walled off, for all anyone knows. I kinda doubt they would just run aground on top of a few hundred sun bathers and swimmers, which they probably couldn't even see :)

From what I read here in the newspapers, that is a closed beach, no public allowed.
Everybody goes there anyway, so I guess if something happens, tough cookies.

You have a good point.

Here is what I was able to find, a news post from 2-days ago.

Bizarre moment 550-tonne Russian hovercraft stuns sun-worshippers by landing on their beach

..............It continued up the beach ignoring the hundreds of people who moments before had been happily enjoying the summer sunshine, before coming to a halt 50 feet inland.

Marines then jumped out and roped off the 550-tonne Zubr hovercraft - nicknamed the Bison - from the public.

A minister said: 'Docking at the beach is a normal event. What people were doing at the beach on the territory of a military base is unclear.'

However, the newspaper said the base the ministry was referring to was several miles away in Khmelevka.

Nobody was hurt during the incident.

I also have found several articles with the headline of:
Zubr-class hovercraft makes an emergency landing at Russian Beach

However they offer no new information or explanation.

A couple of clear videos in the link below, people seem to be captivated by it and they swarm around in curiosity.
