Vitamin C and unset stomach, true/false?

I recently feel uncomfortable in my stomach most of the time.... include stomach gas, heavy, pain sometimes, not sleeping well at night, etc. Then I remember I recently start taking a 500mg Vitamin C daily.

Are these related?

If it matters, I never take Vitamin and rarely take any medication.

stop taking vitamin C and see if you feel better. It could be that it's not the vitamin C, but something else in the pill (fillers) that's causing the problem. You could always try another brand of vitamin C.

I can tell you that there are certain vitamins that you can overdose on, but I think the biggest danger is with the vitamins than are not water soluble which, I think, are A, D, and E.

How about Ester C in capsule form...are they better?

eat an orange....vitamin supplements are overly hyped.

...and the pulp, too...am told it's where the bioflavinoids hide out.
I eat the peelings when I eat an orange.

its absolutely related.

Absorption occurs better with a good amount of food transgressing...primes the metabolism engine or so I've been told.

Also, vitamines do have a shelf life - B, C are water soluble and very susceptable to water absorption which will reduce effecasy.

There used to be a theory that vitamin C would ward off a cold and the more you took the more effective it was. When I used to feel a cold coming on I would find out what was the most vitamin C I could tolerate by taking it until I got stomach cramps. So yeah, it can affect your guts.
BTW I think my limit was something around 1000-1200 mg/day.

I've heard too much vitamin C can cause kidney stones(calcium).

Buffered C doesn't do a number on your stomach. PERQUE brand "Potent C Guard" is one type.

Stopped it the day I posted, feel a little better today. It's probably just me.
