Comcast's new HS modem ...mild rant
So I get this thing sent to me...free for some reason. Install and try to activate it several times. Finally get a chat window and have several chats with techs all of whom promise to fix...Finally service for three days but now out again. Called and they sent elec signal to activate...worked for two minutes then out again...
Anyone have this problem ? Anyone have a fix ? I'm sick of it. Tried to go back to old modem I had working for years but then phone won't work... Who knows if I can even get this posted ? ... |
I have a place in the Bay Area and recently signed up for Comcast high speed Internet. What an f- ing nightmare. After three trips to the Comcast store to exchange defective modems Comcast sends out a technician at no cost to us. O.k.so now i have high speed Internet except the cost comes in at three times what they promised. 150.00 charge for the technician, fifteen dollars for each time I exchanged the modem. Too many charges to list. I am going to cancel if the charges are not adjusted.

Wow....I can't even seem to talk on the phone...when it works...to a live human. Dunno if there is a Comcast store in Sac or not.
They most definitely should adjust your charges...defective equipment and they charge you for it...NUTS... |
Lots of patience needed. The first time I called about the charges I was connected to India.
|
Not surprised...is yours working OK now ?
|
Yes, everything is working fine. The bill.....that is still ongoing.
|
So it was a defective modem ? I may have to go to a C' store to see about this. Also noticing...for a long time now...that my computer 'wakes up' during the night. I don't shut down...just put it to sleep. I wonder if someone is hacking me at night ?

All the modems were fine. Turns out the cable connections outside at the poles were old and needed upgrading. The tech handled it.

I have nothing good to say about Comcast so I'll follow the advice of Bambi's mother and say nothing. Good luck. You'll need it.

1). You are automatically charged for a service, while your personal financial reputation can easily be libeled if you refuse to pay.
A national defamation system set up by the NY Banking cartels. 2). The service is not provided due to vendor company mismanagement. Infrastructure is already in place. The company then demands more to fulfill a contracted obligation. 3). The ISP vendors makes huge profits: How much does bandwidth actually cost? | Financial Post (from 2008): “The cost associated with transmission and switching on a modern network is a non-issue — less than five cents per gigabyte and dropping fast” "...noting that AT&T and Verizon control 60% of phone service in America." 4). Communication in the USA is the highest in the world: Why Your Phone, Cable & Internet Bills Cost So Much | Daily Ticker - Yahoo! Finance "-America has gone from #1 in Internet speed (when we invented it) to 29th in the world and falling. -Bulgaria is among the countries with faster Internet service. -Americans pay 38 times as much as the Japanese for Internet data." |
And yet most if not all of the carriers are all dropping the "unlimited" plans and moving everyone to $$/Gb
