Smiling ear to ear....my new (to me) Ducati.

1992 Super Sport. 17k on the dial. Open airbox and carbon Ferracci pipes. Pulled a head stud, so the previous owner tore it down and replaced the studs, put 11-1 pistons in it. Rode it 1000 miles, then experienced some sort of personal emergency that led him to not ride for a couple years.

Just got the side panels back on after transport. Haven't had a chance to ride it yet. Not a garage queen by a long shot, and its sat, so I'm going to do some house cleaning. Currently weeping oil on my garage floor from around the oil cooler, and I couldn't be happier.

All the bikes in the world I could buy, and I find myself an old leaky Supersport and fall in love. The bark from the pipes....heaven.

Lots of original parts, but the headlamp and top fairing are not among them. Don't mind. Like the twin lamps more. Original bill of sale included. Original exhaust as well, but it was full of mice when we pulled it from the barn shelf! Smells something fierce.

Very nice!

I am kicking around the idea of buying a Duc as well. Came very close to buying a 998 a couple of weeks ago. Can't decide what I want.

Please post some updates and pictures as you go through it.

Before riding, check frame welds at headstock to be sure there are no cracks. Was common, but easy to repair. Enjoy the ride!

Yup. Checked before buying. All good.

Pretty nice paper trail with the bike. I'm the third owner.

Those things have so much character... I'd like to pick up one day. Congrats and stay safe!

Just took it for a spin. Runs greats. Sounds awesome. Previous owner had the forks revalved and put a Fox unit on the back. Really nice feel.

One more:

Congrats on the new bike!

Without a second plug i doubt it is actually 11:1 compression though. Have fun and stay safe.

Very jealous. Back in 91/92 when these were new, I came real close to buying one but went for the GSXR1100 instead. At the time, this 25 year old couldn't get past the 73HP versus the Japanese 130HP all my other riding buddies had. Today I could care less.
I put 30k on the 1100 over the years, and I guess it left an impression b/c my username on this and other forums is "gsxrken".
But in a corner of my mind, I always wanted the Duc.
Very jealous. Oh I said that already...

Injuries over the long haul prevent me from owning and riding your motorcycle...doesn't mean I can't lust.

Well done.

Congrats. She looks beautiful.

My '93 900SS drips a bit, too. From around the oil filter. But it only does so if I haven't ridden it in awhile. If I ride it regularly, it stays dry.

Enjoy!

Congrats. IMHO the 90's super sport is perhaps the coolest bike ever made. The early white framed (w/ older logos) bikes are pretty rare. Back in those days they only sold a few hundred per year in the USA I believe. Enjoy. I have the Pro Italia 2v valve adjustment "how to video" if you want to borrow it. Need a VHS player to watch it though.

Beauty, when my son asked me what my favorite bike is yesterday, I told him a Ducati SS. I'm too chicken to get a street bike, but I picked this up yesterday. 2013 Husky WR300. It's my first bike in 20 years & I really wasn't looking for a 2 stroke, but I couldn't pass up this deal ($4200).

Factory authorized the clearance Thursday night & the shop posted it on CL. I was the first to call on it & asked them to hold it till I got there. Three people called on the bike while I was buying it. It was demoed for 3 hours at a play day event, so it has a couple scratches.

I have zero gear, I ordered it all this morning. I've ridden it around the block a couple times & the power does seem more linear than my buddy's RM250 I rode years ago, but there's still a big pucker factor there, front wheel comes right up.

I got my son an XR70 & all his gear first & he loves it. It will be another week before I get to suit up for real, but I'm pretty excited.

The PO to my bike put on a pair of HeliBars. It's so comfortable it feels like I'm riding a tractor, compared to the typical sportbike positioning.
