I'm thinking about a road trip this weekend. Texas Hill Country or Arkansas?
I want to take the Cayman out for its first road trip. I've done the Texas Hill Country on a motorcycle so I know what to expect there but I haven't driven Arkansas. I've heard there are really nice driving road there so I'm looking for roads not to miss tips. The girlfriend will be coming along so there needs to something for her to see and do too so a spa would be a nice destination.

Some sweet roads between you and Austin. I used to go through Cat Springs from Conroe, maybe that was on the way to SA...

Arkansas has some fantastic roads. I have road tripped at least twice a year since getting the Pcar. It will take longer to get to the roads in AR but they are really good, worth the effort IMHO. A trip I like is to get to the southern part of hwy 7 and head north on 7 through the entire state of AR. It terminates in the northern half of Louisiana and there are some phenomenal parts in that area. Tree covered, sharp switchbacks with gentle rollers thru the farmland and river bottoms. I have driven 30+ minutes without seeing another car.
Hwy 7 in AR will lead right to Hot Springs which is a pretty cool town. Lots of history and shopping etc. Once in Hot Springs you can continue north on 7 to Missouri and be fine but 7 can be crowded on weekends, there are plenty of less crowded roads that are equally nice. I planned a trip using tips from an AR motorcycle website, good resource. I am sure if you poke around you can get plenty of advice.

Hwy. 7 is nice but I'm sure it will be quite busy this weekend. Ark. 23 "Pig Trail" is also fun, but that takes you up to Eureka Springs in NW Ark.

If you go up on the Pig trail in Ar, which is a n excellent road, be sure to hit the Talimena drive in SE OK on your way back south... Some excellent roads...

Long story, but I've done Ark 3 times this year on a M/C and I live in WA state......Highly recommend both the Pig Trail "Hwy 23" and Hwy 7.....Any roads in between are also great.
I disagree with the opinion about weekends being busy. Did a lot of weekend travel and only slow down was getting behind a few slow trucks on 7 just south of Harrison.... Speaking of Harrison, from there, take Hwy 125 to Peel and then the free ferry across Boal Shoals Lk into Missouri......Head north on Hwy 125 all the way to Rogersville, which is near Springfield....... On any of these 3 roads, you'll swear someone set the clock back to the 1960's...Eureka Springs and Hot Springs are great towns to explore....Enjoy......

AR is all ate up with crooked roads. Hwy 123 near Mount Judea has a sequence of a half dozen corners that are as tight as any I rode in the Alps.

Ya... AR has some nice tight roads.... I once made a guy hurl on Ar-74 heading into Jasper... And we were in a Dodge Megacab. I was taking it pretty easy I thought.....
