Street Racing Accident
Hiya guys, thought I'd share this.
We're all guilty of racing on the street, who really has the willpower to shrugg off some punk with a "riced out" Civic who is taunting you while you sit in one of Stuttgart's finest? Last night, I discovered one more reason, however, to "keep it on the track." Was outside my house last night at about 11:30PM smoking a butt when I hear the unmistakable revving sound of a "grapefruit thrower" muffler on a tiny jap scrap compact. This sound was followed by screeching tires and more engine niose... more screetching tires... and some of the loudest banging and thudding Ive heard yet. Sounded like a 10 second artillery barrage. I went inside to report it via 911, hopped in my car and sped off to where I heard the accident (bout 30 seconds outside my neighborhood). I arrived and got out of the car, people already outside of their houses and went looking... saw a WHOLE lot of rice body kit laying on the street, mashed against trees and across two front lawns. It really didnt look too good. About 2 minutes later the police arrive (very impressed with their response time) and we started looking for the car, couldnt find it. (very wooded area and not well lit). We just followed the tracks and peices of car - my initial reaction was that the kid was able to drive off, but judging by the amount of his "car" on the pavement, I eventually thought it unlikely. What looked like had happend is this: We have a rather sharp left hand curve that has a slight bank to it outside the development (difficult to resist attacking it) and this kid decieded he was going too fast on turn in and ended up slowing too hard and locked up his tires - needless to say he went off into the woods, the laws of physics being what they are. We found the car wedged between two large trees on the side of someones house. From first look, it appeared that whoever had been in the car wasnt alive - the car had obviously rolled at least once, lost most of its "body kit" and was simply destroyed. We ran over to the car... but there was no one in it!! We have no idea how the driver got out - it looked like he would have to have been cut out, but an empty seat we found - he must have taken off on foot after the wreck, scared out of his mind. I ended up leaving soon after that, not much more I was doing than getting in the way. The car was a rice boy Civic... baby blue with glitter on the side no less... oh, and dual exhaust... wonder how he routed that? Just another testament to keeping racing safe and controlled on the track. Know your limits and the limits of your car. The accident could have easily been much worse... think of what would have happend if the car hit a house instead of a tree. Stay fast and safe.
