I guess if I was gonna drop $80K

I'd get this. Seems nice...

If there's one thing I know about Ferraris, it's that they are very cheap right before a major service is due.

porsche4life 09-08-2013 06:57 PM

80K is just the starting bid... I'd bet it goes over 120k looking at other cars for sale...

HardDrive 09-08-2013 07:05 PM

Never cared for the 612. I would love a 550 Maranello. Just my humble opinion.

Same here. It looks somewhat bland and awkward. I'd much rather spend less for a 360.

motion 09-08-2013 07:14 PM

They are spectacular in person. Beautiful car.

you are right about the 550. a bit plain but a nice gt. a bit like a more modern 928...some like the styling and others do not. I personally would prefer a 5 sp 928 gts!!!

BlueSkyJaunte 09-08-2013 07:27 PM

It's the 512BB for me or nothin'.

enzo1 09-08-2013 08:02 PM

friend let me drive his brand new 458 Labor day weekend.....awesome car!

I feel similarly...you are clearly a man of distinguished taste:)

Schumi 09-08-2013 09:17 PM

If it has the engine in the front, I don't want.

I know someone who spent more than $120k on a 911 restore. ;)

ckelly78z 09-09-2013 03:16 PM

I'm sorry, the shape and rear end reminds me of a Corvette, and the front looks like a Boxster. I always preferred the 550 or a nice 308.

Yea, your right. That ' 58 Tessta Rossa with that ugly 12 cylinder in front just gets in the way.

I agree. Get rid of that depressing interior color (was the original owner colorblind?), slip on some Novitec rims and I'd be good to go.
But I'd still take a 550/575 or an Aston instead.

You found a '58 for $80k? Now that's a deal worth wiping out your 401k for.

strupgolf 09-09-2013 03:58 PM

Yes. Im looking at an ad now for a 58 Testa Rossa for $13, 000. Needs some work, but is sure to gain some value in the future years. Oh, wait, the ad is in Autoweek dated 1976, maybe they have gone up some since then. I love looking back in my issues to see the ad's from when cars were cheap, in relative terms. I still lofr Ferrari's with engine jn front.

A most elegant car. One of those cars that is even more lovely in real life.

I'd buy two 365 2+2's or 400i's before I spent 80k on one of those. Wasn't that long ago you could buy a real nice "driver" quality 365/400 (5 speed even) for 25-30k. The decent ones are pushing 40k now. They're the last of the old school v12 ferraris that the rest of us can buy... but just barely.

Steve Carlton 09-09-2013 08:19 PM

I think the color combo could have been a lot better, although a lot of people like silver. I don't think the seller got any flattering overall exterior photos, although those can be googled. I bet time will be kind to this design, which I think stretches the boundaries a bit. I like the crease in the fenders that goes through the headlights.

When did Ferrari turn the corner and get their cars to be non-catastrophic on major services? I'm thinking this one is not the nightmare they used to be?

HardDrive 09-10-2013 04:53 AM

Generally I've been told that the 360 was a turning point when it comes to quality.

scottmandue 09-10-2013 12:08 PM

I couldn't find the $$$ for a BRZ but if you are going to dream... dare to dream big!

If I had 80k sitting around, this would be in my garage. Simply beautiful.

No chance of that going over $120K.

I wouldn't be surprised if it got no bids even at $80K

The value of these modern 4 seat Ferraris drop like a rock.

Mrmerlin 09-10-2013 10:53 PM

I would be very happy tooling around town in that car 80K is a deal

cairns 09-11-2013 04:55 AM

I think that 612 is stunning. 0 bids so far.

There's something fishy about this one. Bought 4-5 months ago from B.H. Ferrari, then sold to current owner, now up for sale again...what's with that? Based on the composition of the ad, the current owner doesn't sound like a car guy either. He repeats himself several times in the description and many of his photos are duplicates. Probably a 'flipper' looking for a quick buck. Refers to it as a 'collector car'...I don't think so.
In the Q & A at the bottom of the ad, the seller let's it slip that the car came into CA from out of state...could've taken a nice salt water bath courtesy of hurricane Sandy.

Group buy!!!!

Steve Carlton 09-12-2013 06:14 PM

Sold for $80,097. Looked like a good car to me and a smokin' deal.

Embraer 09-12-2013 06:26 PM

Check out the values on 550's now. They're a relative bargain. Its the only Ferrari I'd sell my 355 to get!
