AAPL: How low will it go

Yawn. Nothing really revolutionary or new announced. My Samsung kicks butt on the iPhone. AAPL is getting punished. I think Ellison may be right about AAPL.

not too low - take a look at the balance sheet

911_Dude 09-11-2013 06:19 PM

Balance sheet doesnt matter to most traders. Yes, traders, not invsters. Because they will never see any of that cash horde. Until Apple lights the fire and comes up with something new and amazing AAPL will tread water at best. I expect it to take a good lashing for a while. The newest phones were as exciting as a wet towel dropped on the floor. I have stock and Im planning on riding it out. But I also make option trades on AAPL that have done very well.

This iWatch thing might spark a rise in price, if they release it, but I have doubts that it will be a must have item. Watches arent that important anymore. My 20 something sons never had or wanted a watch. But if they succed in making a must-have watch, then I guess there are a lot of naked wrists ready to wear one.

Apple may have peaked. Im starting to believe that they may be just a really good maker of computers, phones, and music players. Sad, but possible.

How so? Screen size?

slakjaw 09-11-2013 10:14 PM

Ya how so? I've played with a couple of android phones and didn't like the UI

Not a smartphone guy here, but I was underwhelmed by the announcement. I would worry about them diluting the brand by offering cheaper phones. Apple anything is a status symbol these days. You can't be that if you are selling cheap versions.

Maybe they have analyzed this very carefully. It certainly worked for Porsche, selling entry models, SUVs and what not. But even Porsche didn't give away a $20k car - the Boxster is still $$$ for what it is ....

S4 has bigger screen & higher pixel count than any iPhone

When comparing to my wifes iPhone 5, better screen, faster, and seemingly better camera are the initial things

I had an android phone on ice cream sandwich for three months. The thing kept locking up. My iPhone 5 has not locked up once and I've had it close to six months.

I don't really get the thinking behind a larger screen. Its a phone. It has to fit in your pocket. I've got an ipad for surfing and playing games.

AAPL isn't dead. I think the entire industry is working up against a fundamental wall. If its a phone, it has to fit in your pocket. You can make the camera amazing, you can make it faster, but there are limitations on what you can do in terms of overall size.

I think the next round of the war will be fought not with the devices themselves, but the background services. Who can make my phone/tv/computer experience as seamless as possible? Who can get me my music anywhere, without me having to think about it?

And yes, I'm basically predicting that 'thin client is the future!'. LOL.

iCloud.

Well, you have to think about paying that $25 annual fee. But no thinking otherwise.

Oh, and you also need Wi-Fi or cell service. But other than that you're good to go, anywhere you go.

:p

Ha. So Larry Ellison turns out to be right... just 17 years later.

S4 also had a quicker processor last I checked.
