Thanks for the discussion.
It sounds like the technical answer to my question is that purists will indeed consider a tinted 911 "modded", in a negative way. That's all I was wondering about. It also seems like it's a touchy subject, particularly since this is such a practice mod, vs. typical pimping out mods that serve little purpose than be an outlet for spare cash the driver doesn't know he should be investing. |

Pushing,
Perhaps a touchy subject, but when the tint is selected properly it will help extend the life of your interior depending upon your location and if the car sits outside in direct sunlight for long periods of time on a regular basis. As I understand it the interior bits degrade: partly due to high interior temperatures, partly due to UV, and a dash of simply age. As far as keeping interior cooler, from what I have experienced, whether the interior temp is +10 of making the back of your ballz wet or +20 of that, whats the difference? Your ballz are still going to be wet! Note that data point is in FLA, and so I have not experienced the significant lower temps with the tint. But that could be due to: (a)whatever type of tint the PO installed as-in cheapo, (b)doesn't help in heat reflection for the remaining part of the car which if the car sits long, the heat will find a way to "soak in". It you have a purpose for the tint, you do realize that it is reversable. That is to say, you can do it for your purposes, but when you get around to selling, you can always remove it. Conversely if you are looking at a car to purchase, you can remove it or have it removed (however do factor in your time/cost to do so). BTW, the biggest complaint I hear about the tint is when the weemens drive by it's too dark to see that there is an endowed prick on the inside.:D |
