Felipe Massa

Here's an interesting stat I just read in F1 Racing magazine. (Sep)

"Of all the laps Massa has ever raced, what position do you think he has been in the most? The answer.... first!

I wouldn't have got it right. Would you have guessed right?http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1378990291.jpg

Seems to have good taste in friends also!

I've been watching Massa race for a long time, and No. I would not have gotten that right.
In fact I challenge the accuracy of that article.

If you take away the years he was second fiddle to schumi he was rarely in first, and if you include those years he was usually in second.

Maybe they were talking about one specific race or one specific track?

It's hard to rack up laps in a gravel trap :-)

I think he's an overrated driver in good equipment.

I too question the stat over his career. Doesn't make sense.

Flippy has led 882 of 10227 completed. If you consider that the laps not leading are spread over position 2 through whatever, maybe its possible. However, as stated, it makes Massa sound like a much better driver than he really is. See his stats here:

It might be one of the statistical tricks. MAYBE if you consider all the possibilities of 2 to 24th he has had more laps in first than in 23rd, through 2nd. That is just a guess.

He's been quite fast at times, very inconsistent at others, Hard to say if it is the driver or the car. Sometimes a car design doesn't suit a particular driver's driving style, sometimes the tires aren't a good match for his style, etc. Keep in mind that the majority of his time at Ferrari has been as a number 2 driver to a guy that had perhaps a very different style and had the backing of the team to direct the car development to suit them.

We are on the outside and don't even know half of the facts, so it's hard to make any worthwhile judgements.

That's how I see it.,

Another way to look at it is that he has more wins than at least 10 world champions, not counting the additional victories he would have had, had he not been asked to finish behind another driver here and there. Add those in and he'd finish ahead of another 3 or 4...

It's her fault. "Oh Felipe, you should wear these out today, you look great..."

yellowperil 09-12-2013 11:34 AM

I'm surprised he can drive at all, when you see who he hangs out with. As for the shoes and pants, we'd all wear 'em if she was dressin' us. Right?

I think it's time for Felipe to consider joining Webber and leave F1. I'm sure Ferrari would love to have him driving in some sports car series or another.

Maybe define his career stats before, then after his near-fatal accident. Not sure how that would turn out.

Some harsh comments here. F1 is so competitive, It doesn't take much to lose that tiny edge; the difference is a potential podium position and not.
