Blind Spot Detectors Emit Radar
 

Just thought I would pass this along... coming back from my last PCA tour I got behind a SUV that kept setting off my Valentine One radar detector (which I just had updated and works properly). Once I passed them I confirmed (from the directional arrows) that the SUV was definitely emitting a radar signal.

Today going to a PCA tour I ran into the same thing, but with a different make of SUV. I got a chance to get along side the SUV and could see that they had blind spot indicators on their side view mirrors (a little light that came on when I was in their blind spot). Cool safety device, but it's going to play havoc with radar detectors.

I did a quick Google search and found out that these devices do indeed emit a radar signal. This was news to me. I thought I'd pass it along to others on here who use radar detectors.

thanks kirk, that answers a question for me.

I've also had cars with cheap radar detectors set off my V1. The worst are the adaptive cruise systems in Infinity SUVs that set off the LASER alerts.
