A proud teacher
Throughout my decades of teaching, I am so proud when I hear of my former students' accomplishments. I've got them scattered all over the world, and while not all stayed in music, they will still enjoy it for a lifetime. One of my former students was on "The Voice" last night and did a cool rendition of "Movin on Up" from "the Jeffersons". I have played in bands with both his father and uncle, so he comes from a very musical family. This was the kind of student who would visit with me during lunch break just to talk about music, ask questions WAY beyond his years or tell me about a new song he wrote. Great percussionist and guitar/keys player. He might or might not go far on the show, but I swell with pride watching him.

The best part is that the overwhelming majority of my former students have found success and happiness. Even the ones where it seemed doubtful at the time. Teaching is an incredible profession.
