Scary Morning

Downstairs trying to wake up this AM and I hear my daughter is in the shower.

Then a loud crash.

Run upstairs, wife is already there. Daughter blacked out in the shower. But is now alert talking to mom. Give them space cause daughter is naked.

I go to wake the boy and my wife yells for me. Daughter blacked out again but mom saw it happening and caught her.

Daughter is pale and complaining of ringing ears and blurred vision.

Off to ER. Couple hours of her stuck in bed being poked and prodded.

Blood work fine. EKG fine. Urine fine.

They determined she took too hot of a shower for too long and had a Vasovagol episode. She'll be fine.

Possibly the most expensive shower in the known history of showers.

Wow, what a scare. I hope she never has a repeat episode.

It reminds me of when I was in a hot tub at our local pool. I was with a friend. The hot tub water was really hot. After I had had enough I stood up and blacked out for a fraction of a second. I did not fall though and caught myself. I was in my 50's and that was about ten years ago. I suspect that the water was too hot. Never had a problem since. Hope this helps. Hope that it does not happen again to your daughter. G.

Wow - the Wiki write up is really eye opening. Happens in young adults more-so.

Triggers include "Extreme temperatures"

Also says that if they try to sit or stand up after an episode, pop goes the weasel. Same thing.

Vasovagal response - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

FWIW, I don't know how women can take such heat. I have fired up cigarets using their shower water.

That's why as a teenager, I always took cold showers. Well, there were other reasons for it too. Glad she's okay, scary stuff. Never heard of Vasovagol.

Sorry about all the new grey hair you have man. That is scary stuff, they act just like they are going to die on you.

Hopefully no next time for this, but if there is, flat on her back on the floor, raise the feet on a chair or something and she will snap right out of it.

Happens with people in hot tubs too. Usually the booze is blamed.

Glad your daughter is ok.

Lol, I only had one or two that weren't grey so I won't likely notice.

Thx for the advice, appreciated.

I too am glad she is okay. I would freak if that happened to my daughter. Mine is known for doing her part in draining the local reservoirs.

How old? It happens predominantly in adolescent females. I have a sister that'd fall over on a regular basis when she was in her tweens / early teens.

Wow... definitely some scary stuff! Glad she is OK.

Comic relief, we had some rain the other night... wife and I are in bed (just the two of us in the house) I get up around 2-3AM to pee...
I'm standing there naked and half asleep taking a leak... AND I HEAR THE FRONT DOOR OPEN!
I about have a heart attack... I peek around the corner to see... my wife putting the house plants out on the porch.

Glad she's OK. I've done more than one case of dental implants on young people who did the same thing and ate tile with their front teeth. Interestingly most have been females.
