Simply outstanding, great job!

We're about to start ours on a lake in New York.

I'll be stoked if it comes out even close to yours.

Pal has a similar "impact" house to Moses' pic on the side of a mountain over Asheville, NC. 10 acres.

No kids. Not many visitors except me a couple times a year. He travels for work and races a cup car. His wife has the dog jumpy thing (agility) going on across weekends. No one's there.

He said to me, "Man, did I really need this much house"

I'm not exaggerating when I say my whole 3 bed house would probably fit into Moses's living room  stunning, just stunning amount of space there

We could have bought something much bigger but as my wife and I plan to spend our retirement time living between the UK, the Alps and driving around the world it made no financial sense to rattle around in something bigger when we haven't got relatives or visitors staying.

I'm into the 'tiny house' thing, like the whole concept of less is more but what I'd really like is 'tiny house, big garage' so I'm looking around for an Alpine barn to keep my summer and winter toys in and have space to work on the many projects I have planned.

You know, you think you're paying attention and then... this!

I remember page 1 of this thread - I can't believe I missed the subsequent progress and completion. Simply stunning.

You and yours and your architect had a wonderful vision - it's nice to see it come to fruition. May it lead to many wonderful and special times for you and your family!

Good for you with the utmost sincerity. Outstanding.

Bunk room is phenomenal. A treat just looking at the pictures.

Came out great indeed. Do they give out depredation permits for bears? I make a killer bear stew ... just saying! ;)

Hell yes! The Truckee river is roaring already. Not sure how it works... I'm guessing the big trout winter in Pyramid lake then swim up the Truckee during late spring/summer.

You're only 1/4 mile and $2 million away! Martis is GORGEOUS!!!!! Congrats! (When people ask me how close to Lake Tahoe my house is, I usually say "About 2 million dollars.")

gduke2010 04-25-2016 07:19 PM

Well, your house is beautiful and weather it's in Schaffers Mill or Martis Camp. The snow sure surprised us but, it made Heavenlys' last day one of the seasons best ski days. Those bears can be a real nussanance in your neck of the woods. lots of stories
