Exercise in car control GT40 In case some of you have not seen this clip of Kenny Brack in qualifying during the recent Goodwood Revival weekend in an original Ford GT40 in wet conditions.... FortyOneSix - Goodwood Revival 2013: Kenny Brack in the wild Ford GT40 If you have any interest in classic racing put this event on your bucket list. |

Nice display of car control, but: Goodwood is mainly demo laps, not a competitive event, yes? Probably not his GT-40 GT-40 is probably worth millions If the GT-40 owner is okay with the potential risks, so am I. Sherwood |

Awesome, but somebody get that man some modern tires! Goodwood is about the coolest auto related event there is, I would LOVE to go someday. |

for his drivers to see to try and and slow them down. I like to watch these videos, gives me confidence to try and push my own limits. |

Absolutely not a demo event although the front of the field were definitely more committed than the back. Car is owned by Adrian Newey who co-drove in the race. Quote:

Love to see hime do that with better tires.. |

Meh... my German mom drove my dad's '66 Sport Fury like that when she took us to school on rainy days. Four kids trying to kill each other in the back seat, so she was somewhat motivated... |

Better tyres? The tyres used will have been the best permitted under historic racinbg regulations.Don't you think Adrian Newey might just know a little about tyre performance?. Front runners more committed than the lower half of the field:the front runners in a race like that have probably spent far more on car preparation, and can more afford to bend their cars. Watch the saloon car races from that event-they were every bit as good to watch. And then try and catch some British touring car racing from Siverstone last Sunday-to US eyes this will be the wildest racing ever.I would try BBC i-player or ITV i-player websites to find these events |

Interesting comment about better tires. I wonder if it is the somewhat inadequate tires that allow the spectacular display of dancing the car on the edge of it's limits? Better tires may be more 'all or nothing' rather than a progressive loss of adhesion that Kenny is dealing with (and mastering) there. Just a thought . . . |

i did not see the other cars being driven very hard or acting like his was if they were. was he over driving a GT40 for nothing? i wonder what the car in 1st looked like while it was being driven. |
|
He was being chased by some bikers! |
|
Talk about on the edge, that's crazy!!! |
|
That's how Houstonians drive on the freeways in the rain. |

Who wants to watch saloon cars racing? Well at Goodwood you got the chnce to see huge Galaxies against Minis, Lotus Cortinas, Mk11 Jags, and an Alfa Gulia Sprint taking the Galaxy in all the corners then losing out on the straight each time. As for modern British Touring car racing, its probably the most exciting form of current circuit racing for spectators with more overtakes per lap than any other formula, and performance ballast being applied (up to 100 pounds for the winner) for the following race to even things up. |
|
It was a qualifying session. I believe he put the car on pole or at least was on the front row. In the conditions some drivers decided discretion was the better part of valor and took it easy but the competition for the front of the grid was intense, as it was in all of the other races. Hopefully they will post some video of Jean Alesi in the '64 Ferrari GTO. I almost could not watch. Quote:

All I could think about was the cost to repair or replace one! |

Some more "demonstration" laps from the TT race at the Revival weekend. This time in a Lister Jaguar coupe. Already bought my tickets for 2014. FortyOneSix - How to nearly win the Goodwood Revival TT - by Chris Harris |
