The Steve Ballmer years will end up as a Harvard Business School case study on how being a poker buddy of the founder may not be the best qualification for hiring senior management.

Ballmer is an interesting case. He's not a polished, suave, "visionary" marketer like some (dead) CEOs, but on the other hand he did preside over a 3x revenue increase over 10 years.

Yeah, but what he started with was really small. No wait. That's not right. ;)

Sounds like the new guy is disinterested in much of the hardware, and Nokia phones side. But very interested in the gaming side of MSFT.
