That's what I'm discovering. I'll hafta bend a little on the bonus criteria, I guess.

Make yourself some scare-deers (think scare-crows) that look like dogs.

Scare-deers! HA!
Yesterday morning I threw my coffee cup at a couple baby deers that didn't even flinch until I ran at them flailing and cursing like I don't know what all. Two days ago I was trying to run'em down with my garden tractor. They laughed! But only after dropping the hosta leaves they were stuffing into their satanic maws like a cow and her bale of hormone-infused hay! Evil, terrible beasts they are. Premium A Number One high test store-bought coyote urine that really really stinks like...coyote pee did work. For a day! I don't think scare-deers would phase 'em one little bit. Especially since both neighbors on each side of me have a bunch of barking fenced in dogs that the lucking fittle deerholes totally ignore. |

"Mostly outside with brutal winters" - seriously? Don't get a dog...please.

Black lab is always in the running as a perfect pup. But I want this dog to be a guardian, a Spartan defending my Thermopylae against the marauding, worthless, tick-infested POS's.
I was thinking I might try to shoot 'em with a pellet gun right in the eye so they go home to their friends and familes and tell them where, how and why they are in such bleeding, oozing, horrible, debilitating and long-lasting pain. I hate 'em, passionately despise the disgusting creatures from the woods in case you didn't catch my drift. Bastiges! |

Nothing is close, but a Lab? ?
May take a bit of puppy tolerance. Also, don't rule out a yellow lab!

Except for the digging, barking, chewing thing, but hey, you're on 1.5 acres. He's got a lot of ground to cover before it gets real noticeable.
Edit: referring to post #8

I'd build a shelter in the garage with outdoor access. I love dogs!

Dogs are fireside companions. NEVER leave them outside.

Get both... A JRT and a Lab. They make for an interesting duo, and nothing will scare them off. Two extremely smart breeds too.

Can't have no digging in my lawn, woods, gardens or paths or any other square centimeter of my botanical marvel. No chewing in the house neither. Barking, maybe.

Dude... Any dog is going to dig at some point....
And a JRT will trench up the world if they get on the trail of a rodent. |

My lab/something mixed up mutt fits most of those except size - she's 45lbs. Short hair, barks only at intruders (ie, in the yard), darn near broke our door down trying to get a deer once.
Not sure on the frizbee but she loves to fetch. Knows which are her toys and is allowed to chew 'em up - but she's not gone for shoes, etc. Good luck.
