Where is the best creme brulee in Los Angeles

So the wife's birthday is coming up and we are going to LA for the day. For dessert she wants creme brulee, so where is the best creme brulee in la? Preferably close to Beverly Hills

You must learn to make it yourself :)

Let me ask my friend. It might be Providence or Mélisse; Bouchon BH is reliable, but their menu isn't online.

really easy.

scald a quart of heavy cream.
whisk six egg yolks with a cup of sugar.
add whatever flavors you prefer, vanilla extract is always good, i also do a coffee one. (i use a powdered instant espresso)
my favorite these days is maple. replace half of the sugar with maple syrup.
i usually add a tiny pinch of cinnamon too. a little rum won't hurt any of these.

whisk everything together, pour into ramekins or coffee cups, you should get six or more out of this batch.
place them into a pan, fill pan halfway to the top of the cups, place into a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes to an hour. they will look a bit underdone in the center, that's ok, you will chill them before serving anyway.

when you are ready to serve spread a thin layer of sugar over the top and sear the sugar with your bernzomatic 'til the sugar caramelizes.

serve and reap the praise.

I do one with Chambord and raspberries that is always a big hit. Pretty easy to make, and a sure fire winner.

Mastro's usually gets mentioned as well as The Little Door. I'm not a CB fan though so I can't speak from experience

If you're on a budget, Fritto Misto in Santa Monica gets good reviews.

To be honest it's in Long Beach. Mexican Restaurant - Mexican Cuisine - Mexican Food - Mexican Catering - Long Beach, CA

After 7 weeks in Europe and over $300 on creme brulee, My daughter and I like the ones Target has in the freezer section. Out of the freezer and light the torch @ $4.99 for 2.

kinein 10-03-2013 08:39 AM

Sorry guy's costco nor target will be a idea for a great dessert for the wife's bday. Any other day but not her bday. She bought me another pcar( thats 2 this year 95 993 and a project 66 912), I have to do better than costco or target.

The little door website menu doesn't show creme brulee I would have to call them. Where is jacks bistro?

kanadary 10-03-2013 08:49 AM

Wow nice wife, you're right costcoor target won't do nor LA for that matter. Road trip to europe or wherever it was invented is the way to go.

Head416 10-03-2013 08:54 AM

I love creme brûlée, but I don't think there's a creme brûlée in the world that equals two p-cars! Maybe if you found a good place in France to take her for dessert.

craigster59 10-03-2013 09:09 AM

Try Bottega Louie. Great food at a decent price. You won't be disappointed. And very good Creme Brulee. Bottega Louie

It can get crowded, so weekdays are best. Here's a link to Yelp.... http://www.yelp.com/biz/bottega-louie-los-angeles

kinein 10-03-2013 09:47 AM

Well believe me I would take her to the exact place where it was invented, but we have a soccer game that morning that we cannot miss. We would be on a plane to france, So off to la we go.
