How? People were talking about Octomom just as much and she was on welfare and lost her house. I'm really curious about Miley's income streams. I've never heard a song of hers since she was Hannah Montana. Does she sell albums? There's not a lot of money in album sales anymore, since people tend to just download a few songs from each instead of having to buy the whole thing. Touring and merchandising are where it's at now. But she probably has a ginormous entourage and payroll. I've never seen anyone wear one of her shirts. And I just can't picture a lot of parents forking over hundreds to buy concert tix for their kids. As Hannah Montana I can easily see all that. But in her current incarnation, I doubt she's making much $$ other than through investments of previous earnings.

I actually feel sorry for entertainers. Their whole life is about the stage... That's the only place the world makes sense to them.

A $ 1.2 million box office draw means she might see $100k of that at most (which isn't bad for a day's pay). And, if that's computed from ticket face values, she can't sell out a small arena. Her costs have to be through the roof. Van Halen has a $1 million per night guarantee and there are only four guys on stage. How many dancers and handlers are on Miley's payroll? Imagine having to pay for hotels, trans. and per diem for all that. Yeah, she makes a ton from her previous character. But I don't think her current earnings are even close to what she used to make. And I don't see how being talked about online translates into a bigger paycheck.

The part of this no one is discussing...this "transformation" strategy involves a gross compromise in integrity and self respect. Still need to sleep at night, look in the mirror, etc. Perhaps the money makes that easier or perhaps she just has no scruples, but with 9 figures in the checking account, you'd think her handlers might be told to pack sand. I can't say I would be any better. That kinda chink can bring a whole lotta comfort. Besides, like a crimminal or curupted clergy or politicains they have great rationalization skills and can compartmentalize it away.

Miley is doing what most people would do in her situation. 95% of people live a life of repetitive drudgery. The best they can hope for is being able to travel a bit once they retire.

And as an endnote, her new album Bangerz is actually pretty decent & it is charting high. Some solid pop hits, some mixed-genre cuts etc. It’s very well produced (for pop mainstream) with excellent mastering by Dave Kutch (Focal alert!) in NYC. It should do well.
