This option on paper looks very good to me, but like most good things there us usually a catch. Has anybody ever used a POD to move? Long distance.

Friend of mine just used one to move her MIL back north.

She had nothing but positive things to say about the whole process.

My folks had 1, worked out fine. Easy to load, big time saver for big stuff. Not the cheapest option though.

I see them used a lot here in the city.

There may be weight limitations, when compared to more traditional metal container. I like that they put it on the ground.

My stepmom used one to move to Vegas, No problems at all

I used one when I re-did my garage -- worked very well - but I kept the pod on my driveway during my renovation.

We used Pods for a move from Birmingham to SC. We had a two week span between closings so this was the cheapest method of moving and storage for us. They were on time and easy to work with. The fact that I had as much time as I wanted to load and unload made the move very stress free.

I'll ask the neighbor at the end of my street. He's had a Pod sitting on the street in front of his house for the past 4 or 5 months. :rolleyes: But I don't think he's moving anywhere. Rather, he's been re-doing his front yard and using the Pod as a not-so-temporary storage device.

Everyone around here (univ. town, so lots of faculty, student, etc. moving) uses them.

You have to know how to pack to prevent damage to your goods tho - one prof. mover told me the key was to pack it all really tight so nothing could move; no movement, no rubbing.

For me, I'd wrap the H. out of anything nice like furniture & pad fragile items carefully then make sure they are in a rigid box.
