Firefighter trapped Emergency Traffic Audio
LAFD audio of a Church fire in South Los Angeles on 10/08 that had a structural collapse and trapped a couple guys. Good audio, the Battalion Chief on scene does a good job of handling the emergency. The trapped fireman spent the night in the hospital but is now home and doing ok. Not a boast to say how cool we are just wanted to share.

Thanks for posting that Glen.
Hats off to the IC. I'm usually screaming and cursing at everyone to keep down the unnecessary radio traffic. .

My apologies. I think that's about the third time you corrected me on that! I think the GL throws me off.
 Yep he did a great job. The ability to keep a clear head makes for an excellent officer, especially under those circumstances. Which is one thing I always prided myself on.. But I also have a very short fuse when it comes to unneeded radio chatter and guys screaming over each other.

Communication and unwanted chatter is always an issue, it really takes discipline in the heat of the moment to think "Ok, Who am I? Where am I? What do I need?"and articulate that "clearly." We had another mayday several years ago and the IC froze, it never registered to him what was REALLY going on. Like most we train on this a lot, good radios with an emergency trigger that goes straight to our dispatch center ID's the radio and locks onto that channel. Hope I never have to use it.

Greg, you are on LAFD? Bravo to you...L.A. really burns a lot. That was one big fire right there.
Do you know anything about what happened to that scumbag architect who was charged in the death of that firefighter up on Sunset Plaza last year? I haven't read anything lately on that.
