Need help valuing this spoon

The guy wants to trade this and some cash for a trailer I have for sale. With the add ons that it has I'm just trying to get a good idea of how much cash I should ask for on top of the trade. I was really looking for something in 22lr or a handgun but this would be an elegant solution to my woodchuck problem.

Here's what he says:The .17hmr is a Savage free floated, fluted heavy barrel with accu-trigger and olive Drab composite stock. It has a 4-12 Nikon BDC scope with Weaver Tactical rings. I currently have a cheek pad and a Harris pivoting bipod on it. I value this gun with 2 boxes of ammo around $650 set up as i described it.
Gun=$300
Scope and Rings= $300
Bipod=$100
CheekPad=$30
Ammo=$30
Everything is either new or like new.

Here's what it looks like:

Thanks for your input!

Looks like his assessment of pricing is a little optimistic.

Scope, $200
Nikon ProStaff Riflescope BDC MT - Walmart.com

Rifle, $250
Savage 93R17 FV .17 HMR Rifle | Bass Pro Shops

rings, $30
Weaver Tactical Rings 48349, 48350, 48356, 48352, 48351, 48355, 48354, 48353. Weaver Riflescope Mounts, Rings & Bases.

The bipod is about right, no idea on the cheek rest.

From the looks of things, that setup brand spanking new is worth about $100 less than he says it is.

Add the fact that it is used, and I would guess it is worth around $500.

What's the trailer look like?

Wholesale on a 93FV in 22wmr, is 225ish, 17hmr will be about the same - the green stock and fluted barrels are special deals for one of the big box stores (Dicks, Academy, etc). and were on sale for black friday last year.

The F stock is flimsy - it flexes up front w/ bipod or sling pressure or sometimes even your hand holding it. I replaced mine with a Boyds laminate ($100ish) which requires new bottom metal (DIP w/ extra long screws and thick mag plate $50). Mine in 22wmr became much more accurate after removing the bipod I was using.

If I were looking for a 17, I wouldn't spend $600+ on that setup ... $500 maybe, but only if the rifle were in NIB condition or it came with 4 or 5 boxes of ammo. Go to $600-650 if it comes with a LOT of ammo/extra magazines.

Thanks guys, exactly what I needed to know.

Trailer is a heavy duty landscape style, 2x 3500 axles, front axle brakes, break away kit, super duty dual rear gates, bearings/suspension parts serviced/replaced regularly, tires are road worthy for light loads but need replacement. Trailer is very used, lots of miles and thousands of tons hauled .

Should say it is closer to an equipment trailer than a landscape trailer.

Unless its beat all to hell, thats still easily a 1k trailer, if not more like 13-1400....

Now the guy wants to throw in a Sig Mosquito with the Savage 17hmr but as a straight up trade. I'm thinking this deal isn't going to happen.

But if it does what am I looking at for paperwork/registering these guns? I'm in Michigan but couldn't find a clear/simple answer.

HHI944 10-14-2013 11:55 AM

A used Mosquito in absolutely pristine condition with loads of accessories and the threaded barrel is still only worth 350-375......

I've been texting with the guy all day, he's offered several combinations of guns and cash now. Turns out he's a used car salesman. There's no way we are going to come up with a deal that I see as fair.

i swapped a pair of colt thunderers for this.
