My latest Flip - Barn Find
Hey, so I picked this up Sunday, very early production (12-69) 1970 Honda 750-4 Super Sport. For those who know motorcycles it is not a sandcast engine. There were only @7400 of those. But his bike is still very rare, this engine is the next most valuable. Nice restored examples sell $8-11K.
Sandcast engined bikes have gone for as much as $35K depending on condition, provenance. ![]() I picked it up for a song and now it's on Ebay going well! Whooo hoo!

I still think about a 1969 sandcast #168 ? which my room mate at university had, I rode a new 71 k1 at the time. He traded the 69 bike for a rusted out (front suspension subframe) 1967 911S . All are gone years ago now.

Yes! The sand cast engine cases were prone to porosity then of course leaking oil. They were much much heavier and would crack open like an egg if hit hard in the right spot. But because there were so few produced and most met an untimely death the value has gone out of sight!

Both my 71 and my friends 69 had rusted out stock mufflers in the first 3 yrs of ownership. I put on almost 1000 mi a week during the summers with nothing breaking other than tires, chains, and mufflers. Great bikes. I heard the HM300 exhaust is being reproduced but the sandcast mufflers had no markings so the repros are only close for a restoration

Nice that it's a SS. Real tough looking in an NFL lineman way.
