Limited edition "rubber bubble child" stamps ... get them while their hot or at least luke warm.

Times are a changing in the good ole' US of A. Probably for the worse.

pavulon 10-14-2013 06:43 AM

Everyone knows that kids look to stamps for inspiration!:(

74-911 10-14-2013 06:44 AM

that is so sad....

didn't some school just ban the use of any kind of balls during PE or whatever due to "safety concerns" ?

onewhippedpuppy 10-14-2013 06:53 AM

Three designs were reportedly rejected by Michelle Obama when submitted to her for approval, as they were part of her council for health and fitness. What a sad, stupid world we live in. WTF is wrong with people?

lane912 10-14-2013 07:39 AM

imagine what could happen if a child climbed a tree?

WHERE IS THE CRETIFIED FALL RESTRAINT!!!!!!!

widgeon13 10-14-2013 07:47 AM

How did I ever survive childhood? Wtf is wrong that we now think this way.

No one sends through the post office anyway especially not kids!

Aragorn 10-14-2013 07:55 AM

How many stamps did they already produce? Think of all the horses that died in vain.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/support/smileys/sad2.gif

A New York Times parenting blog says it has confirmed with the U.S. Postal Service that the stamp series is on hold, saying the three drawings showed children moving in ways that "could prove detrimental to their health.

Read every single comment in the article and every single post in this thread. Nobody sees the logic in this. How the hell does anybody conclude these should be pulled due to safety concerns? Who listens to their position and says "You know, you're right"!

Is tort reform still a thing? Too many people practice cya when there isn't any a to c.

Eric 951 10-14-2013 09:08 AM

Good..... because, based on these stamps, if I do a "twist around" or a "cannonball" I am liable to lose all my facial features since these are obviously accurate life-like respresentations of these various actions.

Children everywhere have been saved.

look 171 10-14-2013 09:24 AM

What will happen when old farts like us go way and the younger generation are running the country? Track and field will be ban due to possible damage to one's knee? Swimming will be no more because you can catch all kinds of deceases, or drown. Their children will breath through a tank because the air is too dirty for them.

No, you forget the source. It's "stop that Johnny, and come inside the school to eat your government approved lunch of fruits and berries". Then little Johnny will spend his day inside of a school with no PE because the government only pays the school for their test scores, then they'll feed him some Ritalin because he's a kid and can't stand to sit still for the entire day in school. I am ever more frequently reminded why my kids don't go to public school, and continually puzzled why the general populace is willing to tolerate such stupidity from their elected officials.

Don't forget that idiots with ideas are powerless without lawyers.......

Evans, Marv 10-14-2013 09:55 AM

Hey, there was a news article not too long ago reporting about a school (District ?) that banned balls and games playing with them.

They banned balls and games playing with them? :D Sounds like a Catholic girls school.

Unsafe for a "handstand without a helmet" --- ???? Seriously? I guess gymnastics is pretty much out of the question. For those of us who have actually DONE handstands, a head injury is pretty unlikely but possibly a neck injury from an abrupt drop.

And the kid doing the cannonball is also unsafe. Realistically, aside from carefully walking into the shallow end with a life vest on, a cannonball (limbs tucked, bottom first) is pretty safe. Splashy and loud, but that's about it.

Guess it's probably just as well that our kids are grown. I made everyone wear helmets for biking, skateboarding and skiing. But I'm the one that taught them to climb trees and jump off the end of the dock, in you guessed it - a CANNONBALL!!! :D
