Our President's name in 1966 was still Barack Hussein Obama. The question didn't ask who was the president in '66; rather what was our president's name in '66? ;)

I thought it refered to the amount of wool it took to make a suit...or a football reference...

M.D. Holloway 10-22-2013 10:49 AM

I still don't know why a wood chuck doesn't chuck wood...I mean he could but that doesn;t mean he does...though he may desire to do so at some point in time...yet according to all accountable records on such a topic (confirmed by SNOPES) a wood chuck just doesn't engage in the practice of chucking wood nor has one ever been witnessed in such an activity and to the best of anyones knowledge there is no compelling reason to believe that a wood chuck has any desire to do anything but what a wood chuck does which in fact is entirely the wood chucks business yet certainly is not by any stretch doing anything remotely close to chucking wood and while they have been witnessed as being an active participant in wooded areas, meadows seem to be the likely place you would find one which begs the question as to the very reason why one would refer to such a creature as a 'wood chuck' when in fact refering to them as a 'meadow muncher' seems to be more in line...

RWebb 10-22-2013 10:54 AM

'cuz woodchucks like sunny meadows, not woods

now, how many rocks can a rockchuck chuck?

M.D. Holloway 10-22-2013 11:02 AM

After God let his wrath and anger destroy the earth in the great flood, Noah sent out a dove from the Ark. When the dove came back holding an olive branch, Noah knew the destruction of the earth had ended and God was at peace with the world.

Thus the peace symbol.

Correct!

Quote:

Similarly, the churches that were told to teach “obedience to the leader and the state” found themselves in desperate need of people to lead church services. Every bishop in Norway resigned, along with 90% of the clergy. The humiliated German soldiers were forced to rescind the doctrine—another win for Norway.

Meanwhile, the general public of Norway were waging a silent war of their own. In addition to donning paperclips, they made life difficult for the German soldiers in various subtle ways. Many of them refused to speak German, even though it was a widely known language at the time, and would point the soldiers in the wrong direction when telling them how to get from point A to point B. They refused to sit beside German soldiers when they rode on public transportation—an act of defiance that enraged the Germans so much that they made it illegal to stand on the bus if there were seats open.

An illegal press was established in order to keep everyone informed after the Nazis attempted to cut Norway off from the BBC. When the German military began to conscript young men into the army, thousands fled to neighbouring Sweden to escape service. The Germans promptly withheld ration cards from those who didn’t sign up—at which point the resistance stole some 150,000 ration cards, and the military was forced to stop their efforts on that front.
