Another very cool machine

And it is 240 years old!

Bob's Project 10-22-2013 01:15 PM

That would not be child's play to design.

Humbling.

sc_rufctr 10-22-2013 01:28 PM

Just wow... Were would you even start?

Thanks for posting.

Shaun @ Tru6 10-22-2013 01:49 PM

That is incredible

PorscheA 10-22-2013 06:34 PM

Wow.

I've seen alot of amazing things since this internet invention thingy came along, but this, really, this is blowing my head apart. 240 years ago?! And it still works? And it's programmable?

MAN!!! :D:D:D:D

THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!

M.D. Holloway 10-22-2013 07:26 PM

That is amazing but in our defense folks back then didn't have as much distractions so I think certain people could really expand their ways and means...

aigel 10-22-2013 07:29 PM

Very cool. Thanks for sharing!

It is pioneers like these who we can thank for our wonderful lives made so much easier and fun with technology.

+1. Thanks, great content.

Shuie 10-22-2013 08:30 PM

That is amazing. I felt like a mechanical genius because I was able to time my 914 engine and get it to start this weekend. Thanks for taking me down a notch.

Noah930 10-22-2013 08:51 PM

Wow. Just wow.

Thanks for sharing.

When I saw that video I instantly thought of my Pelican buddies. I knew a bunch of nerds, engineers, and geeks like most of us would enjoy that clip.

sc_rufctr 10-23-2013 05:29 AM

Value? What's that thing worth?

Being a one off, It would have to be over a million, probably closer to two if it was ever for sale.
And you'd have to employ someone qualified to look after it and keep it working 100%.

911_Dude 10-23-2013 05:41 AM

Amazing. Yea, that inventer had some spare time and a great shop.

VINMAN 10-23-2013 07:42 AM

Incredible. but creepy as hell.

HardDrive 10-23-2013 08:22 AM

Incredible.

MBAtarga 10-23-2013 12:30 PM

Mind sufficiently blown....

craigster59 10-23-2013 01:12 PM

Yeah, that's up there with the "singing bird pistols" that MBAtarga posted. I think they went for $4.9 million at auction.

M.D. Holloway 10-23-2013 05:31 PM

Those pistols are amazing!

PorscheA 10-23-2013 05:42 PM

Stop guys, I can't take much more! That is some exquisite posts!! Brilliant!

M.D. Holloway 10-23-2013 06:18 PM

I would love to understand the steps in the design process. Then to make each mechanism. Fine tune it. Amazing.

What do you mean distra.......ooooh look a new 'reality' TV show so I can watch other people 'live' their lives and distance myself from the sad reality of mediocrity!

Nostril Cheese 10-23-2013 07:41 PM

There also the Antikythera mechanism

built over 2000 years ago.
