New guitar gear day!

Happy birthday to me!

I've been wanting to get a low power tube amp to replace my solid state amp I bought when I first started guitar a few years back. I did my research and liked the Orange Tiny Terror but it was a little out of my budget.

I decided to sell one of my Strats to fund the new amp. I sold my 2006 Highway One Strat with a humbucker at the bridge today off Craigslist. Ended up doing a partial swap for a Blackheart Little Giant amp plus cash for my strat. Then I took that cash to a guitar show today and got a great deal on a gently used Tiny Terror. I also found a new Orange 112 cab which I got an excellent deal on at the show as well.

I really like both amps so far, the Blackheart does really nice clean tones and the Orange a Tiny Terror is awesome for British crunch stuff. I originally was thinking of selling the one I liked least but I might just keep both!

Nice! Ive never been a fan Orange, find them 'fizzy'- but I had a rip through a friends 50w 212 over the weekend and it was great. Bright clear articulate, completely rock. But it needed to be turned up! That's going to be plenty loud at home......

Cool. I like the Tele, got my first one earlier this year. I play the hell out of that thing. I have a little Champ X2 which has tubes in it. Love that fender clean sound.

Tiny Terrors are awesome. But yeah, they need to be loud to sound good.

New stuff for me.. just got a Schecter Omen as a trade for some work. Nice little bass that sounds pretty decent.

Yeah I love my Tele. It's an American Standard, all stock. I also have a Mexi-Strat in alpine white that I stole off Craigslist about a year ago and a Tradition S2000 Les Paul knockoff my wife bought me for Christmas that I have Wolfetone pups in. My acoustic is a Taylor 414CE special edition I also stole off Craigslist. None of those three guitars are going anywhere!

The Tiny Terror is switchable down to 7 watts, it's still pretty loud with the gain up though. I might have to invest in an attenuator to keep the wife happy.

I spent the night messing with the Blackheart. I have to say that little amp has some AWESOME clean tones! Really impressed with it so far. Great amp considering you can get them for $125-150!

Gratuitous shot of my retolex job from a few weeks ago.

Both amps have their place and sound great in their arena. I also have a Tiny Terror which does excellent British crunch and front-loads well with a OCD pedal or Tube Screamer. It also works very well by just rolling off the volume on your guitar to find the sweet spot. Enjoy!

Tube Screamer is next on my shopping list. My SLO's overdrive tone can't be improved upon, but I need a better crunch option when using the clean channel.

Rick
I have a TS9 (stock) and an SD1 (stock)...any opinions on the RAT?
Seems like most of these do pretty much the same thing, but your stuff actually gets out of the house unlike some guys always talking equipment on the guitar forums.

I almost bought an Epi Valve Jr, I hear those are pretty fun to mod and can be had for cheap.

I have a Fulltone OCD pedal and Chinese knockoff called a Green Screamer. I'll be playing with those into the amps today!
