Not in Kansas anymore?

VINMAN 10-27-2013 08:23 AM

There's only one choice.

The Ferguson!

Whatever you are considering, take a look at the siphon ( the outlet from the bowl to the connection). It should be a smooth "S" bend. Many cheap loos have a sharp right angle in there that invites a blockage. Think exhaust header vs cast iron manifold.

I replaced one of mine in a water closet about 6 months ago. I'm not interested in fancy toilets. To me a toilet is a toilet, so I went for the Aquasource AT1203 at Lowes for $100 on the Consumer Reports recommendation. It works very well, flushes well, seems to keep itself clean as far as complete flushes are concerned. It's a little higher to sit on compared to the other three I have.

Thanks guys. Will look at Toto and American Standard. I agree on Gerber.. That's what my current toilets are.

Other THREE…jeeze …that's a lot of crappers :D

Those American Standard videos are awesome! 2 pounds of kitty litter... Yep, 25 golf balls... Yep. 3 pounds orange peels... Yep.

Maybe it's overkill but after three years of frustration with our old toilets these things are just what we need!

$410 each at HD. Time to go shopping.

Champion 4 is what I installed. It is an awesome crapper !

Agreed… I was amazed at what all it ate… funny vids though.. I was cracking up:D

WHAT !! Not available for sale in Ca or Tx…. WTF !

Steve Carlton 10-27-2013 01:23 PM

What was wrong with the Champion 3?

trekkor 10-27-2013 01:38 PM

I was just about to start this very topic.

I hate my toilet.

It can take up to four flushes to empty the bowl.
Even just paper.

Is does not develop a consistent swirling siphon.

Sometimes if work fine though.Ii can't explain it.

I don't know about you folks, but in our house we don't use the toilet for flushing golf balls or orange peels. I think any real test of a toilet's flushing capacity has to involve one's mother-in-law, because flushing capacity depends on two crucial factors that only a mother-in-law can consistently provide... thickness and length of the sample, and excessive use of toilet paper.

Enough said. :(

KT

Now design makes that obsolete due to flow rate or restrictions. Get a Toto G max and be done with it.

Good toilet like Toto, glaze their trap way. Other do not.

Ha, I get it, very good.

Being a big time s*****ter I use Duravit. It's the Porsche of toilets.

Nostril Cheese 10-27-2013 03:26 PM

I have this toilet. Yes, it works as well as shown in the video. I drop some massive logs..

Toto is the only way to go.

VINMAN 10-27-2013 06:46 PM

I installed a HD Glacier Bay dual flush 2 yrs ago. Very happy with its performance.

After reading some threads on these forums and a couple of toilet review sites I bought and installed a Toto Drake model that has the Sanigloss coating. Amazon.com was the source. 1.6 gpf version. Replaced a 15 year old Kohler 1.6 gpf toilet. Very happy with this change... should have done it years ago.
