Broken bolts/studs… Removal ?

I'm in the process of restoring an old Wedgewood gas range I've had since about 1980. Bought it from the original owner who bought it new at Sears in 1954. Anyway I was trying to remove the burners and the attachment screws are notably tight and near frozen. I soaked them in PB Blaster for a long time. All but two came out. The other two were turning but it was the head twisting off and I couldn't tell. I have researched on YT on how to remove w/o drilling them out and retapping but I'm able to do that if need be.

Bought a set of Easy Outs but not used them yet. Still soaking in PB. Vise grips just slip. Wondering if torching them to heat up would help or make it worse…if that's possible

Any other ideas before I try the easy outs ?

Drill out with left handed drill bits. Cycle heat cold a few times with MAP gas then try ez outs again before drilling.

I looked for those LH drill bits but not at the store I went to. Perhaps I can find tomorrow at a tool shop..

Thanks

how much of the stud is sticking out, or did it break flush with the mount? I have had great luck with this tool if you have about an inch of stud to work with....

edit: saw you got it done

Only about 1/8" sticking out. This piece that needs threading is old cast iron I think. The bolts have been in there since 1954 so it's a wonder I even got six of the eight out w/o breaking.

If you connect to it electric current always works. Connect the stick welder plus onto the bolt (or hold it tight with your hand). Put the negative on a metal part of the sink.

Pulse the welder on and off in 1 second hits.

Anti-sieze. So in 59 years this won't happen to you again.

The only place I could find a LH drill set was from Snap On......not cheep. They are now separated safely in the far reaches of my tool chest

Harbor Freight sells them as well, I have a few sets from them, and they work just fine.

Try drilling out a busted off 911 exhaust stud.
