OXI! ... 28 October 1940
I can't help but feel a great pride today. I was born in Australia but my heritage is Greek.
28 October 1940 The day the Greeks said NO to the Italians. It was very significant at the time and had a real affect on the war in Europe. Eventually Hitler had to send German troops to Greece to do what the Italians couldn't but that's another story (and involving Australian troops in Greece). Further reading here. G'day!

Thanks for your post and the reminder of an important date in the history of our world, Peter.
I'm not of Greek heritage but can appreciate the pride all Greeks must feel about this part of their country's history. I think it's important for everyone to re-visit the past from time to time and reflect on world events that shaped our lives today. Well done and cheers! Bazza
